That article never answered the question that was used for the title.

Now that's stupid. 01-wingedeagle

So what if they took advantage of a down ACC? They beat the teams on their schedule, won their conference title game and played in a BCS bowl. Sure they weren't ranked highly, but I'll be surprised if they don't at least get to eight wins next year. Most of the offense returns and Jim Grobe didn't get dumb overnight. It was one of the better stories of last season.

You take the breaks you get. How many championships were won by strange occurances?

I know Tennessee got a big break late in the 4th quarter against Arkansas in '98 that led to their last SEC (and national) championship.

Wake just got lucky. But enough luck can beat skill anytime.

I am by know means a huge Wake fan and can't really stand the ACC, but how did they get lucky?

Lucky that the ACC was down and that VT did not make it to the title game?

If anything, they were unlucky against Clemson or would have had one more win.

They had a ton of upperclassmen last year and still do. This year was supposed to be the coming out party.

BTW - bad luck would be losing your starting QB game one, starting RB game two; maybe your right maybe the QB loss was their piece of luck.

UT did get some luck to win the title - that was an unbeliveable play, and I hope the Mountaineers get a piece of that this year as well. It does take a little help to win the NC but I am not sure what happened for WFU last year was luck.

Weird article.

Maybe the same article would of been written if RU would of won the Big East last year.

Wake won the games that needed to be won last year to finish first in their division...and to win the Conf Champ Game.

Wake didn't have to play any ranked teams during non-conf play (Syracuse, UCONN, Ole Miss, Liberty) and took advantage of those early non-conf games to build up W's and more importantly, confidence.

Its just odd when a very small private school (just 4,000 undergraduate students) with high academic standards wins a Conference Title from a BCS Conference in Football.

Wake Forest got lucky in the fact that it was a down year for the better programs within the ACC. That's all.

They weren't unlucky at Clemson. They just got their butts kicked. 05-mafia

You really must not have seen the game. WF was up 14 entering the 4th quarter. Clemson required skill on the play I'm thinking of, but it was certainly one of the biggest fluke plays of the entire CF season, and resulted in a 10 point turnaround in 15 seconds.

Face it, if anything the luck was against WF last season.

They weren't the most talented but they were the most fundamental and best overall team in the ACC last year. Their fans also comported themselves very well at the Orange Bowl and they had a fair number there given their size.

Yep you are right. Clemson is the one that got real lucky vs. that fluke fumble/INT by the Clemson DE that he took it to the house. I thought WF got screwed. I am still pissed UCONN lost to them. UCONN could have won that game if DJ did not throw that 90 yard INT TD at Wake 10 yards line.

I doubt the same would have been said because Rutgers would have been in the Top 10 if they had won the Big East and Louisville may have been as well and West Virginia would have been in the Top 15 or 20. Wake was the highest ranked ACC team and they were #15. That's why the ACC is getting raked across the coals.

Syracuse played Wake even closer than Uconn, and the game was at Wake Forest.

All I can say is Wake was just good enough to win 11 games last year and win the Acc championship. Thats pretty dog on good, imo, and I dont care how many games that they barely won.

Go ahead CardFan, finish your statement. I'll finish it for you. "...but all in all my Cards trashed theirs sorry butts and sent them back to the ACC with their ACC crown in proper perspective. Add that to the total trashing we gave the once mighty Sugarcanes, ugh, I mean Hurricanes, and I think the Cards alone answered the writers question of parity of parody in the ACC."

There. NOw you said it.
