New Dan Hoard column on gobearcats.com
Pawtucket Team President Mike Tamburro is graciously allowing me to miss a PawSox game to be behind the mic when the Bearcats take on Southeast Missouri State. I'm already fired up to see how the 'Cats look under new head coach Brian Kelly.

The other Bearcat at media day was safety Haruki Nakamura who shared an interesting tidbit that hasn't received much publicity in Cincinnati-that Chad Johnson has been working out with UC's defensive backs and wide receivers on a frequent basis.

"It's unbelievable," Nakamura said. "When he first started working out with us, I've never seen anything like that. Week-in and week-out, we've played some great college athletes, and he's by far the best athlete I've ever seen. It's completely stepped our game up, just working out with him, because we see what it takes to be able to be great at the NFL level."

Really excellent to hear Chad getting out and working out with the UC secondary. It's someone else doing his part to bring our local football along.

Dan is a true Bearcat fan it's great to listen to what he has to say.

Why doesn't the media tell us about the good things that the Bengals do?

If Bill Koch heard about it, he would frame the question this way: Coach, you know the Bengals have the worst reputation in the NFL? Shouldn't fans be concerned that a member of that team has been spending time with some of your players?

Chad Johnson is a great guy. He is always helping the younger kids.

He goes to a lot of Elder football games and does a great job of financially supporting some of the inner city catholic schools that feed into Elder. Great guy.

Hoard is actually my favorite play by play guy next to the guys who do Formula 1 on Speed Channel. He is always prepared, tells it like it is, and is never pompous. What else can you ask for?

Well I for one think Dan Hoard should have a better job than working for Pawtucket Paw Sox. I hope a career move is in the near future for him. Don
