RE: ETSU's Schedule
i like how you have a real game played in between two exhibition games.

and good luck with Tennessee Wesleyan. I know you guys already have that game circled on your calendar. I think Kennesaw plays a team like that in the middle of their schedule..I think its Clark Atlanta. Its stupid and a waste of space.

RE: ETSU's Schedule
Three old foes of yesterdays southern conference. Chattanooga, Marshall, and Appalachian State. Isn't it funny that we used to play big teams to get ready for the southern conference and now we play the southern conference to get ready for the A-sun?

Yes I know Syracuse and others are on the schedule too, but my point is still valid.

It will be interesting to see how you do against the Southern conference opponents and compare those performances to your Atlantic Sun performances.

RE: ETSU's Schedule
Well, last year the A-Sun was 2-5 against the So Con and the only wins were one-pointers against poor So Con teams.

I guess it's an improvement. Didn't the So Con go 9-1 against the A-Sun the year before?

RE: ETSU's Schedule
There were some savage beatings in that 2-5 as well. I don't know if the SoCon teams on our schedule weren't put there to appease ETSU fans. I mean other than maybe Davidson and Western Carolina, I could care less about the other teams.
We play Milligan and usually Mars Hill yearly as scrimmages.

RE: ETSU's Schedule
Kr,
Actually that's not true...Davidson dropped football and was kicked out of the SC. They were later invited to rejoin under a new contract that did not require them to have football. But now with the addition of Samford to the SC, I don't think there's much hope for that.

Hence, lets be honest... there is a reason you left (or did you get kicked out? I can't remember).

So wishing to get back in is just that... a wish.

RE: ETSU's Schedule
The official word is ETSU left the Southern Conference voluntarily after the decision to drop football was made by our administration. ETSU could have applied for a waiver to remain in the conference as a non-football playing school similar to what Davidson did when they left years ago, and what VMI attempted about ten years ago before leaving for the Big South. That all according to former Southern Conference commissioner Dr. Danny Morrison, whom I asked personally about that for clarification. ETSU left without ever applying for the waiver, because apparently in an unofficial straw poll we didn't have enough schools that wanted us to stay in the league.
That being said, any true Appalachian State or Ga. Southern fan you talk to will tell you THEY ARE MISERABLE in the SoCon, and want out, ironically for the same reasons ETSU fans hate the A-Sun. Too many Small, private schools that don't match up with their respective athletic missions. The problem they are stuck in is that neither school has the money or attendance to really go to an FBS conference, and now the Sun Belt is saying there is no room at the Inn for anyone. So to be honest, everyone is stuck until the next major conference shakeup (i.e. the Va. Tech, BC, Miami to the ACC jump). I think Corso had made mention of some interest between Mizzou and the Big Ten, which would open up a spot in the Big XII for Arkansas to go home, and ultimately open up a spot in the SEC for possibly Memphis (it would hurt football, but REALLY HELP basketball), thus opening up C-USA. Ultimately, the grass is greener on the other side for ETSU, but the fact is if and when we go back to the SoCon, it could very well be going through what the A-Sun is now.

kr,

When have I ever not been upfront about why ETSU is no longer inside the southern conference? You're just blathering to blather.

RE: ETSU's Schedule
The word blather is just a fitting locution for the nonsensical and slipshod chatter that you Kennesaw kids divulge so freely from your over-bloated, highly rhapsodical, and unremitting mouths that one at times succumbs to the elementary crutch of turning a well-suited descriptor into a weathered-out old whore.

Now comes the part where you respond with your obligatory LOL.
