KennesawBasketball,

You're so eager to trumpet your vocabulary, after mine was compared to a 70 year old man, that you jumped all over someone else in an attempt to appear intelligent.

I'm not calling you unintelligent, but that's what you did.

Gold:

The difference is that I am not ATTEMPTING to appear intelligent. I am a pretty bright guy. I am not a genius by any means, but I don't need a thesaurus to make a coherent post. I wasn't making fun of the guy for simply trying to appear intelligent. What I thought was funny was the fact that he ridiculed another person's intelligence by using the term "booger eater".

Buccaneerlover Wrote:Every ETSU fan knows where our athletic weaknesses are. Piss poor president, athletic director, senior women's administrator. We also understand that we play in a building built for football and track, and are in need of new facilities. As a whole we understand that we are in a REBUILDING PHASE AND ARE STILL KICKING YOUR A$$ in everything except women's soccer, which quite frankly the only thing those girls really contribute at our school is some extra eye candy and more money in the pockets of the local spirit distributors.
From a basketball standpoint we know that our team is not where it once was, yet we're still winning within the conference, and with the exception of laying an egg at Vanderbilt, have played respectable against teams that have made the NCAA tournament. We just find it hilarious that you guys are talking about being the best team in the conference, and winning the regular season every year and you've not been division I for any real length of time.
You guys continue to try and attempt to shoot holes in our program, and the most telling stat about the A-Sun is this...
In our last year in the Southern Conference we finished with only nine wins... With basically the SAME TEAM we came to the A-Sun and finished in the top four, with a winning record.

Please reference a SINGLE post where I claimed that Kennesaw was the best team in the conference. Please reference a post where I even remotely stated something similar to this idea. I have in fact stated just the opposite many times - that we are a growing program but we have a long ways to go before we come close to becoming a dominant team. I have even gone so far as saying that right now ETSU is the best program in the ASun. What seems to cause violent responses from most of you ETSU posters is that I merely suggest that Kennesaw has the tools to become a very good mid major program. I mention our location and some of you ignorantly try to claim we are in the backwoods of Northern Georgia. I mention our moderate success thus far in Division I with makeshift teams and you throw stones, I mention our growth in recruiting and you claim that our recruiting hasn't shown in the win column.

BucLover's post is a perfect example of several of the ETSU posters inability to comprehend anything that doesn't scream: "I love Johnson City and the ETSU Bucs!"

Please reference this post if you start to get anymore ridiculous thoughts that Kennesaw thinks that it is dominating the league. I think in the future we will have a chance to be a dominant team in the conference, but only time and a lot of hard work by our team and coaching staff will tell.

How did you do in your non conference schedule in both of those seasons... we could use that as a comparison as to whether your team may have gotten better or the competition just got that much worse.

RE: warm ups
I looked at the 2004-2005 non-conference schedule/results and compared them to the 2005-2006 non-conference schedule/results. The fact is ETSU seemingly was a better team when they entered the A-Sun as opposed to their last southern conference team. The argument that your team has succeeded in the A-Sun due to the fact that the conference is less talented then the Southern Conference is not entirely true. By viewing the information listed below you may find that your team actually improved throughout the transition.

2004-2005 ETSU Non-Conference Schedule Results

Marshall L
Fresno State L
Alabama L
Central Michigan L
Old Dominion L
Memphis L
Citadel L

Virginia-Wise W Non-NCAA Division I
King College TN W Non-NCAA Division I
Union Kentucky College W Non-NCAA Division I
Austin Peay W
Tennessee Tech W

Overall D-I Non-Conference Record: 2-7 (Note the removal on Non-D-1 Teams)
Overall Record: 10-19 (Inclusion of Non-D-1 teams)

ETSU was outscored by D-I non-conference opponents 760- 650.

2005-2006 ETSU Non-Conference Schedule Results

Tennessee L
Radford L
Clemson L
Austin Peay L

Central Michigan W Improved upon since 2004-2005
Morehead State W
Marshall W Improved upon since 2004-2005

Overall D-I Non-Conference Record: 3-4
Overall Record: 15-13

ETSU was outscored by D-1 non-conference opponents 555-553. This is a remarkable improvement.

Note: Improved Winning Percentage/Ratio as well as the points for/ points against ration.

RE: warm ups
I don't have the time to respond to all of this at the moment, but there is one inaccuracy that strikes out at me upon first glance. In 2004-05 the Citadel was indeed a conference game. I know the year we beat Marshall, it was at home and they were down in talent from the year before.

This is one time where I'm going to break from Buccaneer Lover's assessment of our first year in the A-sun. I've always maintained that we had an abundance of talent during our first year in the A-sun. The problem was that our players hated each other, lacked chemistry, and therefor under achieved.

We did not have the plethora of talent that last season in the Southern Conference. If you go back to that last season in the SoCon you will find that we were basically playing the year with about seven or eight players due to injuries and one player quit because he had family problems (or something).

Last season, where we won the A-sun regular season, was a pretty average year in talent for us.

Oh and KB, I never use a thesaurus.

I realize that quote was to BuccaneerLover, but allow me to address it.

For the record I know that you, Kennesaw Basketball, have never made this claim. That's never been my gripe with you, personally. It was your "dramatic improvement" claim that I took issue with.

"I know the year we beat Marshall, it was at home and they were down in talent from the year before. "

Actually, I do not think you know... view the facts below:

2005-2006 Marshall Overall Record: 12-16 (5-9)

ETSU Beat this team 91-63

2004-2005 Marshall Overall Record: 6-22

ETSU Lost to this team 80- 76

It appears that Marshall had a less talented team in 2004-2005 rather then 2005-2006 as their record clearly demonstrates this. It also demonstrates that ETSU improved as they lost to a team that won a total of 6 games while coming back the next season to crush a team with 12 wins.

One year removed from a losing record, a team that got BLISTERED all season. We added Courtney Pigram the first year in the A-Sun, the team still didn't get along as a whole, and we finished with a winning record. Improvement by the team? Maybe minimal, but the fact is had we played in the SoCon that year our record would have been similar.

Not cool Buc...there is no reason for that. You would have loved to have a guy like Golden on your team.

Nope, no desire to deal with a primadonna coaches son. I know he did a two year mission and all that, so don't go into that diatribe, but he's still the coaches' kid.

We will have to agree to disagree as I stand by the clear FACTS, presented earlier, that demonstrate otherwise...
