Tournament Schedule
The first day will be the 1/8 and 2/7 games for both the men and women.

Let's try and be nice this time around so the thread doesn't get moved.

RE: Tournament Schedule
Again, I bring up the point that there are 8 stinkin teams playing for this thing. Give 1 and 2 a bye and make the regular season mean something. If everyone get's a shot at the NCAAs, what's to stop the ASun from sending a sub-.500 team to get even more embarrassed by a 1 or 2 seed.

RE: Tournament Schedule
You can't really give 1 and 2 a bye in a 8-team event. Then you would have five teams in the second round.

RE: Tournament Schedule
Nick, that only works if theres only 6 teams. A lot of conferences send every single team they have. So several conferences could send a terrible team to the NCAA's every year.

So Big Camel-- Is it 1/8, 2/7 games on Wednesday and then 4/5, 3/6 on Thursday?

RE: Tournament Schedule
What's the point of this post? If the schedule is what it is (which it is) and you prefer it to be the traditional schedule (which you do) then why post it at all if you aren't going to voice your dislike for it? What's left to say about it?

If you make it a six-team event, the A-Sun becomes a bigger joke to other people than it already is.

RE: Tournament Schedule
alright, point taken. There's just some things that doesn't help. Added cost for a non-revenue generating event, more games for proven teams, scheduling difficulties, sub-500 teams playing, lack of any school support anything below top 3 teams regardless of who it may be.

To keep with the wishes of the first post, this will be the only thing I say. Gold, fall off a cliff.

RE: Tournament Schedule
I think it'll regardless, it'll be a fun weekend. It would be nice if the divisional champs, or the two teams with the best conference records got byes, but with eight teams it would just be foolish. I'm also hearing that same weekend that the SEC women and OVC are ALL going on, but I'm not sure. I'm thinking the SEC women's tourney might be the weekend after ours.

I really can't see the point of integrating the women

RE: Tournament Schedule
The only thing I can think of is attendance. They are assuming that people will be there for the guys games and will either come early or stay late since they have already paid for a ticket.

RE: Tournament Schedule
It's not going to jack up attendance. I've been to this tournament the past two years. Lipscomb fans watch Lipscomb games...Belmont fans watch Belmont games...when their games are over, they leave. WHICH IS NOT LIKE OTHER CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT FANS!!

Honestly the most disappointing thing about moving to the A-sun, for me, is the tournament. It's not even a shadow of the Southern Conference. I wish it were better, because I already dislike Lipscomb...and I'd like to have a hatred for a few others, but it requires a fan base on their part.

I wish the tournament were on a neutral floor.

As it stands...I'll make the journey to Nashville, b/c I back ETSU. But it's just not the same.
