There are a few quotes in this article worth remembering.

one is:

"The conference's schools and fans will have to perform. Renewal beyond this season will depend on ratings and attendance at games."

ESPN is in the business of televising sports. They take it seriously and the product they put on the air.

This means MAC schools will need to work diligently to ensure stadia look mostly full, etc.

Fans at the schools hosting these games need to realize that these games are on the over-the-air channels like WXYZ (ABC) in Detroit as well as other ABC, CBS, Fox, etc. channels.

This is as big as it gets.

That is why the GOTW is Eastern Michigan @ Ohio not the other way around.....we will fill up nicely.

I read elsewhere some info from someone very close to the deal that it is a multi-year deal subject to yearly review. 04-cheers

That dispels the notion that this is make shift, one year deal which won't be around for the 2nd year.
