So while messing around on the ringback tones website for Verizon Wireless, I've notices such schools as Bowling Green State, George Mason, George Washington and Appalachian State all have their stuff on there for download. What's the holdup with ETSU making the fight song/alma mater available for download to mobile phones?
On a side note, I thought it was interesting that Appalachian's version however didn't include their spoken parts.

The first time I ran "afoul" of ETSU was when I did a story on the ETSU Fight Song.

Now, the flack who gave me such a hard time- John Gilger- is now long gone and the last I heard he lives in Kentucky.

But regardless- I was told by Gilger "Only schools in the midwest care about their fight song" and was chastised for writing an article on "Fight Fight Fight!"- which is the ETSU fight song.

What business it was of Gilger's, I don't know. Perhaps this is why he's not in Sports Information anymore.

But despite the background music on the radio spots, it has been my experience that ETSU has never embraced "Fight Fight Fight." I did interviews with the band- none of them who knew what the lyrics of the song was.

With such indifference, is the fact ringtones are non-existant really a surprise?

The fact that I would show interest in what the fight song was and tried to make conversation about it set off Gilger.

I really don't care about all that I just want to put the damn song on my rbt jukebox, so when people call they'll hear it.

So you're saying that Gilger was wrong when he said nobody outside of the Midwest cares about their fight song?

I could careless about some useless article about fight songs, I just hoped that Mike or Kevin would read this, start snapping some fingers in the dome and get the fight song as a downloadable ringtone. I mean seriously, Appalachian State has it, why shouldn't we?

Again, don't care about former SID's, I just want to download the ringtone to my phone, that's all.

I'm telling you why you can't.

So you SHOULD care about former SIDs.

I really don't, it's just a simple matter of chopping it up into an RBT/Ringtone and making it available for download. I'm sure our former SID's were great, but I hear not as hot as the current G.A.! I hear now she's going for the "Selena" look with that new do!
