NCSU Basketball Player Called 'Illegal'Eyewitness News Exclusive
Eyewitness News
(10/11/05 - RALEIGH) - North Carolina State basketball player Gavin Grant may be deported as an illegal immigrant.

Eyewitness News has learned that Grant was detained last week by campus police and immigrations officials, amid allegations that he was smuggled into the country, from Jamaica, as a child.
Grant, a 6'7" sophomore forward, was projected as a starter this season. A high school teammate of former Wolfpack star Julius Hodge, Grant was rated one of the top prospects in the country before enrolling at NCSU.

Sources tell Eyewitness News that Grant will be taken to Atlanta for a hearing, then deported to Jamaica. NCSU athletic department sources say they're confident Grant will be able to play with the team this season.

We'll deport people that have been here for years and have made a life for themselves... but we won't do anything to keep new illegals from coming in. 05-nono
