Big East biggest OOC game for 2007?
It could possibly be South Florida vs Auburn. USF has a real shot to pull off that win, even though it will be a challenge. If they could do that it would be absolutely huge. Just thought I would throw that out there. I cant wait to see this one.

That one will be a great one, but I truly believe that USF will pull that one off. If they can beat WV at WV, they can beat Auburn as I think the 2 teams are at worst even, but WV gets the edge. But another great ooc game will be WV at maryland, remember the Terps won 9 games last season and many expect them to be even better. Plus the game is at Maryland.

:rock:The Auburn game is the biggie. Although if USF doesn't pull off the upset, it will probably be either the WVU-Maryland or the Rutgers-Maryland game that ends up being the biggest. It all depends on what happens during the season. Louisville-Kentucky could be another candidate for the top spot. The Wildcats are supposed to have a good team this year, although they won't compete for the SEC East crown. UF, UGA, and UT are just too good for them. Of course, if Syracuse can upset Iowa in Ames, that could be the biggie too. Pitt has a couple of candidates too - Michigan State and Virginia. If, by some miracle, they manage to beat those teams and make a run at the BEast leaders, one of those games could manage to get top billing.

I'm looking forward to this season. It should be lots of fun watching BEast football in America.

As I see it, the 4 KEY OOC games where a WIN/or even a close, contested game will be good for the League, since most are projected a BE loss:

1) USF @ Auburn
2) Cincinnati vs. Oregon State
3) Syracuse @ Iowa
4) UConn @ Virginia

As I see it, the 4 KEY OOC games where the Big East team will probably be favored, and should win:

1) WVU @ Maryland
2) RU vs Maryland
3) Pitt @ Michigan State
4) UL @ Kentucky

The 4 KEY OOC games that I see as 'trap' games, games BE teams might believe they should win that they just might lose

1) Syracuse @ Miami, Ohio
2) UL @ NC State
3) USF vs North Carolina
4) Pitt @ Virginia

Cheers,
Neil

Auburn may very easily lose that game. SEC teams are very beatable early in the season, with very few exceptions. But you can forget UofL losing to NC State. It ain't going to happen.

O'Brien, as much as I despise him, has shown he is quite good at getting the best out of limited talent (average recruiting rankings in the high 40s).

He now has a bunch of talented juniors and seniors (undisciplined Top 25 classes and not living up to their potential) that if he should get the best out of, has enough to knock off any team in the country.

Not to mention that probably the greatest weakness of the Wolfpack has been it's O-Line and that is O'Brien's specialty.

Of course, there could just as easily be a meltdown between disciplined coach and undisciplined players as well. 03-wink

Cheers,
Neil

I'd be pretty depressed if Conn lost to UVA next year. UVA lost by 25 points to a BE bottom feeder in Pitt. All BE bottom feeders, even UConn, should be able to beat them. Playing in the BE toughens teams up, you know?

JMHO. I do not think that Michigan State, Kentucky, Virginia or Iowa carry the National reputation of Auburn. Auburn is a consistent national power. They defeated eventual national champion UFlorida last year. I think that USF @ Auburn is the Big East number one OCC game. I hope that all the Big East conference is watching as USF takes the BE banner onto the Plains of Alabama.

Looking for a Bull Victory.....Gore the tigers....

RE: Big East biggest OOC game for 2007?
Wanted to chime in on this topic. I'm going to go the other way on y'all. I would say, considering the Big East's rise from questionability in the past 2 seasons, the biggest OOC games are must win games for the top teams against non-BCS competiton. While the Big East has proven to be a top tier conference, no one is quite sure how stable that media and consensus opinion truly is. If a Big East powerhouse like Louisville loses to a non BCS team, I suspect the anti-Big East sentiment could rise again across the nation instead of just in MWC country.

With that in mind, I give you the biggest and most important Big East OOC games in 2007 along with the % chance of an upset being pulled by the other team.

Utah at Louisville - 30%
East Carolina at West Virginia - 20%
Navy at Rutgers - 20%
UCF at USF - 10%
Western Michigan at West Virginia - 5%
