RE: Feasibility study report
Papp has used the quote similar to, Do you know what UGA's graduation rate was last year? Do you know how their football team did? as an example of how important football is to a school.

The study looks more like what I had in mind (not the 30 million overhaul proclaimed by others) of about 10-15 million to start football but also build up the programs we already have. Tonight was the first time seeing the powerpoint (couldn't they have written a paper at least and made it look professional) but I'm glad they're on the right page. It's another thing to get everyone else on board. It's going to be an interesting few months and definately intriguing months ahead of us.

RE: Feasibility study report
Did a little digging today. Not much luck. The web site of the company running the study absolutely sucks. http://www.turnerassociates.net

They've worked on a few different projects that give me hope but at the same time make me wonder. The Southern Museum (i know, i know...) is something that had nothing more than mention in the City mailout once a month. Now it's web presence is good. They put on events, it's actually a place I may go visit (lived in K-town for almost 15 years and never been).

The part that makes me wonder is that none of the projects they've worked on are big time. Why not look at who Tech or UGA uses? Maybe someone's getting a kickback or something, that's a probability.

Umm, other than that I couldn't find much. Wikipedia still has it that we're in a feasability study. Obviously this hasn't been slammed out the front door which is weird but maybe we're ahead of the curve. Who knows. Everything's speculation. I'm all for increasing student fees. I wouldn't have minded paying another $100 to have athletics have that kind of strong budget. They're only looking at $30-$45 which seems fair to those not as athletics oriented as I am. Doubling the budget would help out ALL programs.

I was just reading over some of your history, and again it strikes me that KSU should have started football back in its D2 days. KSU would have been a great fit in the Gulf South. When you made the move to D-I, you would have been a good fit to the SoCon, and it wouldn't have been long before somebody like Sunbelt came calling.

You didn't read the part where we had a lady president for 20+ years who thought the owl was a great mascot cause owls were smart.

She couldn't have done too bad of a job. The school had a wonderful growth during her time.

I'm not saying she did a bad job, but it does explain the emphasis on academics and not on athletics. Which is one of the reasons why we're going to be able to put more emphasis on athletics now. If KSU was just another 4 yr school in Georgia, there'd be no football talk.

So you're saying she put the emphasis exactly where it should be. :)

While I definitely think KSU would have been able to put together a great D-II program that could have gone to I-AA easily, you're not bad off now. You can create a buzz around a I-AA program that can see success and get you into the Sunbelt within 10 years, and you now have a more solid alumni base and a larger student body to support your program.
