Cubs to get Linebrink and Rob Bowen.

Nice trade for the Cubs but the Cards killer is gone!!!

Barrett and cash to SD for Rob Bowen and a minor leaguer hitting 211!

This trade went from good to awful for the Cubs!

Rob Bowen has thrown out 3 of 22 baserunners and is batting 250!

this trade was basically to get rid of barrett, Lou Pinella does not like him very much and his contract was expiring at the end of the season as well, the cubs are fine without him imo he hasnt done much for the team as it is

This trade sucks, but it was something that had to be done. There is no way I can seem them done making trades, because there is no way you can continue the season with Koyie Hill and Rob Bowen as your catchers. Can't happen.

Unless he doesn't something remarkable the rest of the way, I think Jim Hendry just punched his ticket right out the door at the end of the season.

What does he care. He's good as gone anyway when the new owner takes over. They all are, that's why they went on the off season spending spree. No accountability. It will be fun to see if the new owners try to win or just to get a return on their investment. Time will tell.

I consider myself very up to date on the current MLB trade rumors and I have not heard anything about Gagne to the Cubs. I am very interested to hear your source.

I've heard lots about Jones being shipped out though. If you think the Rangers will take Jones for Gagne you're crazy.

There was a rumor going around of Jones and Marshall for Griffey. I like Marshall and all, but with Jones in the trade it saves us very little money. I don't think the Reds would trade Griffey, even if I think it would be a good move for the franchise to deal him.

I have heard nothing about Gange to the Cubs. Another guy to do the towel drill I guess.

Yeah I saw that too and it really didnt' make a whole lot of sense. If the Reds trade Griffey it's because they are basically giving up on this year and rebuilding for the future. Jones does nothing in terms of rebuilding. Marshall, yet.. good young pitcher. Marshall and some prospects makes more sense.

Either way, I don't see it happening.. teams rarely trade within their division especially big trades like this.

I just read more about Gagne.. apparently he has clause in his contract that says he can only be traded to 12 teams. As of right now, the only KNOWN teams on that list are Yankees, Mets, and Angels. Teams known to be NOT on the list are Tigers, Indians, and Phillies. That being said, I don't know how there could be any speculation about him going to the Cubs when it's not even known if they are one of the 12 teams. Pretty bold statement you made there too saying he will be a Cub by the end of next week.. unless you know something that everyone else doesnt.

I guess I might of exagerrated when I said he would be a Cub by the end of the week, but there is a strong possibility that Gagne will be a Cubs.

There was articles in the Trib, Sun Times, Daily Southtown etc saying that they will be looking at Gagne this week...Piniella apparently urged Hendry to get a power arm in the bullpen...This is the perfect time to pull off the trade with teams playing against eachother...

So how bout this, I'll say Gagne will be a Cub within the next two weeks...He might have arm problems recently but he's pitching incredible this year.

I'd take it. Gagne has been real solid this year and that could really bolster the pen. I'd trade Jones for a bag of baseballs and why the hell not, throw Izzy in there as well.

Did I ever say Jones was going to be part of a Gagne deal? Um no....I just said that he'll probably be dealt to an AL team.
Plus, the Mets are pretty much offering Milledge to any team who will bring a quality player...The guy is gonna be a major bust. And Gagne will probably not have that much of an asking price, especially with the salary he has..

I was saying that because originally you, or someone else, said Jones and Marshall to the Rangers for Gagne.
