Now that Maryland has won a National Championship, there is one more mountaintop that, in the past, has been unreachable for Gary Williams. This is a plateau I think if they reach it in 2003 will be another crowning achievement because, frankly, this has eluded him. Even this year.

I'm talking about winning the ACC Tournament. Oh, taking the ACC outright in the regular season was the bomb -- it really showed that Maryland was the best team in the conference. But the conference championship would be sweet, too.

If the Terps win the conference tournament next year, I think I would be satisfied as a fan. Some pundits are pessimistic about their chances to repeat as national champions. I say wait and see. Just because there's only one starter coming back doesn't spell doom (especially when the starter in question is Steven Blake). But the ACC Conference Championship. That's the Last Unattainable Star.

ummmmm...at the moment I am pretty satisfied, just my own opinion. Don't know if anyone else agrees with me, but.....

I'm not satisfied. I am overly happy that we won the title. It was one of the greatest sports moments in my life as a fan. But.....I want more. I want to remain in the elite area of college basketball for decades. I want another title, or more..... I want Maryland to be on the short list when people talk about college basketball programs. We are very close to that group right now, but we are not in that group yet. Winning the ACC title would be awesome. Now that we've won the National Title, if we win that next year it only adds to our programs success. We need more regular season and post season titles in the years to come. We WILL get some. With our current recruiting class, and the rumors of what might be coming in next year and the year after.....we'll be fine!

The National championship was without a doubt my finest moment as a sports fan. In my mind, this tops any world series, any superbowl, and nba championship, or what have you. Right now I am very satisfied. I still expect great things from the basketball team however. World domination would be nice.
