No, I think that your post is full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

MSU may not have a good football team. They also do not have a short memory.

I have a personal problem with ignorance, among other things.

Just because I predict something you don't like. Get over yourself.

Your logic is tragically flawed, and you screwed up a ton of factual information.

Furthermore, you failed to concede that your predictions were wrong and that the trends don't favor your silly prediction.

My advice to you is to get over yourself and go back to your own boards.

Why would he "concede that *his* predictions were wrong" prior to the games being played? I think that Tennessee was a better team in 2000 when USM lost to them by only 3 pts in Knoxville and that USM is better than BSU after they've graduated most of last year's squad. I don't see any definite losses on our schedule, but I'm not pissed because he doesn't agree. I think Tulane will be better than last year, but the way the West is stacked in 2007, it might not show up in the conference ranking.

I'm a Utah fan and I have them 1-3 OOC. Oregon State, UCLA and Louisville are better teams than the Utes. No shame in saying that.

Saying that CUSA will win more than 2 games against the bcs is NOT kissin' CUSA's arse.

The reason I said not much thought went into it is because you didn't follow any mathematical reasoning. I guess I you posted this and said "this is just my opinion", we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Mathematically, CUSA will win 7 games against the BCS this year. We will be closer to 500 OOC than you predicted. We will also have a winning record against the non-bcs opponents. We could, but not likely lose 80% of our games against the Mountain West.

On the downside, we could very likely lose to a 1-AA team. We could be as bad a you predict but it would outside of the mathematical mean.

Sorry you got sensitive about my remarks. I originally assumed you put some thought into this. I wasn't aware it was merely conjecture.

No prob. I thought there were only 4 MWC-CUSA games.

UNM-UTEP
CSU-UH
BYU-TU
SMU-TCU

Unless you counted the Southern Miss-Boise game by mistake.

As far as Tulane goes, the teams in the West are better than they are. Tulsa, Houston for sure. SMU will continue to improve under Phil Bennett. UTEP will be competitive. And, Southern Miss IMO will be the class of the entire conference.

For your reference, anything I post is only my humble opinion. And I will tell you what I really believe will happen. It will turn that some will be true and some not true.

As far as BCS teams, a good chunk of those are against the heavyweights. LSU, Texas (2), VT, WVU (2), Tennessee, Florida State, Miami along with light heavyweights Oregon and Texas Tech (3). Plus, non-BCS heavyweights TCU and Boise.

MWC-CHI, as a Memphis Tiger fan, you are entitled to your opinion, however, I disagree with you on "our" projected record will be dead wrong. I am not sure if you were aware of our circumstances from last yr or not, but the defensive side of the ball will be much better. Through improved recruiting and transfers(who sit out last yr) our defense improved tremendously from the end of the season to spring practice. Defensive is where we were extremely weak last yr. Now if our offense can maintain somewhat consistance, then we should have a much better year. Also if we can somehow avoid the injury bug(something we havent done for a few yrs now) hopefully that would increase our odds. We have average aleast 9 to 10 starters out before the season begins. The injury bug seems to me to be the biggest issue facing us. I believe that this conference is wide open for anyone to get on a roll and win the whole darn thing.

Can the newcomers make an immediate impact? That's what we'll find out. That said, at the end of the day, I believe no one will have anything for Southern Miss.

RE: 2007 Conference USA Football Forecast
I see an 8-game swing.

CUSA realistically finishing 26-22 ooc on the top end and 22-26 on the low end.

Marshall @ UC is winnable
UCF could win at NCST or upset USF in a rivalry game
Memphis should go 3-1, not 1-3
Tulsa can easily go 3-1
Houston will go no less than 2-2
Rice will beat Baylor
Tulane will beat Army.

5, possibly 6 wins against BCS teams and more competive against the Sun and MWC conference than you suggest.

That, of course, is my opinion. I haven't crunched any numbers. I feel with most of the CUSA teams being fairly young last season, they will improve this year. I wouldn't put it past some of the schools pulling some big upsets this year - contrary to the statistical averages.

Yes, I believe they can. Last yr we fired our DC after the 4th game and we were injuried on the defensive side of the ball(the most) before the season even started. Plus our DL side was not big, but that has improved vastly. With our new DC, we still running what Tommy's defense that was taking shape at the end of the season.Last yr's team didnt have the size needed to stop anyone. Tommy and his staff has done a nice job in that reguard. Again, the main issue for us has been the injury bug. I know alot of people say that we have to many new coaches and not to expect to much but after last yr., I do. I truely believe that we are going bowling this yr.

That looks about right to me, the only thing i would switch is the UNM vs UTEP game and the Houston vs Colorado St game.

IMO, UNM has a better chance to come out with a win than CSU. CSU has the toughest CUSA draw out of BYU, UNM and TCU. Even though Tulsa is the toughest out of the CUSA apponents, BYU is will probably be favored going into the Tulsa game.

I think Houston being favored by some to win CUSA has a much better chance to beat CSU at home who is predicted to be at best a middle of the pack MWC team.

Both UNM and CSU return 18+ plus starters on each team. I'm definitely looking forward to both games more so than the BYU and TCU games who i pick to be easy wins for the MWC.

My picks MWC vs CUSA

BYU over Tulsa
TCU over SMU
UNM over UTEP
Houston over CSU

I have to pick a few wild ones.

I don't think you did. My beef is that you have the consensus-like "safe" picks, when the history of C-USA has been unexpected programs rising to the top.

In 2006, many of the experts were like CFN, predicting:

Tulsa 8-4
UTEP 8-4
USM 7-5
Houston 7-5
East Carolina 6-6
Memphis 6-6
UCF 6-6
Marshall 5-7
SMU 5-7
UAB 4-8
Tulane 3-9
Rice 0-12

UTEP, Memphis and UCF did not bowl but Rice did. Tulsa finished third in their division. I suspect 2005 was the same, and the experts did not see Tulsa and UCF in the championship game.

Make some gutsy picks. Tulane has some talent, but UAB seems in turmoil. Rice has an awful lot coming back on offense (probably more than the other West contenders), and a new coach known for defense. The last Rice coach, also known for defense but unable to show any in Houston, has moved up the road. Does UH have a leader like Kolb among their talent?

I'd go:

East:

USM
East Carolina
Marshall
Memphis
UCF
UAB

West:

SMU
Rice
UTEP
Tulane
Houston
Tulsa

While the East may be all about USM, parity lives in the powerful West where someone has to finish last.

I meant nationwide picking wild ones. My gutsy pick is South Florida winning the Big East. When I make predictions, right or wrong, they're guesses. The problem for Tulane is that the deck is stacked vs. them with teams like Tulsa, Houston, SMU and UTEP in their division. Don't get me wrong, these teams could very well prove all of us wrong. Last year, I pegged Houston in the West, although I went with UCF in the East and the conference and that was a disaster.

And the one thing I WILL NOT do is kiss a++ for ANYONE.

Plus, Ill give you points for putting your $$$ where your mouth.

I'll give you a thumbnail of the rest and you judge safe or gutsy.

RE: 2007 Conference USA Football Forecast
Gutsy: South Florida in the BE, Missouri first in the Big 12 North, and the multi-team ties in the WAC (including San Jose State) and Sunbelt. The rest of it looks pretty safe (although I note the 8-win Cincinnati prediction). Or maybe it is safe to predict the WAC and Sunbelt in ties rather than pick a winner?
