I can admit that I am very pleased with everything I have seen so far. But I want to know what the true Cincy/Huggins fans think of his time on the KState job so far... Honest opinion... has he exceeded your expectations at this point since he accepted the job in purple land, is it just what you expected (Huggs being huggs), etc. Has anything surprised you so far?

Just looking for some feedback from the Huggs faithful to see what you think so far.

Well I have got to say that in his first year Huggins has exceeded even my expectations. But remember he has not won a game yet, but when you win 22-25 per year for 10 straight years, you will realize just how great of a hire he truly was. I just figured it would take Huggins more than a year to get a good recruiting class, but the year out of the NCAA helped since he could talk to recruits without NCAA restrictions.

I can't really say I am surprised but this situation with Banks kinda scares me. I mean he is going to be one hell of a player but I just hope you can keep him out of trouble if he gets to KSU. Another thing, Ryan Patzwald who was a walkon for Huggins in Cincinnati will also walkon to KSU next year. He got kicked off the team due to a DUI. Only thing is Huggins is a man that gives kids second chances. He sometimes will get burned, thats where his bad rap comes from. We shall wait and see how everything comes out in the Little Apple.

I figured Huggins would be able to land Bennett because of the close relationship built up at Cincinnati. However, I didnt think he'd be able to land much else when he came in late. Landing Colon, who he was recruiting to Cincinnati, was an excellent land. That will give KSU a huge frontcourt. Young is the scoring threat they desperately needed. All in all, Huggins has done exactly what he's needed to do thus far.

Im definitely not suprised about the new aura surrounding Kansas State basketball. He's a name guy who can draw fans into the building and gain support based on his success along with national coverage from ESPN and other networks that will come instantly.

I think Huggs has done very well. I was dissapointed about Hannah, but getting the other 3 were solid. I also like the staff he is putting together. Remember, Huggs operates best in Basketball season, not recruiting season.

I think he has done an excellent job in 2 months. Trying to get your staff in order and recruit to a new area, has to be hard right out of the gate. Especially since most recruits were already locked up and signed elsewhere. If he had another month or two this class could be off the charts. But next year we will need 5 or 6 players, so we shall see how that works out. As a former season ticket holder, I believe the talent level has been upgrade a bunch already, but that wouldn't take much.

Hey Bearcat- who is this Banks guy, and what is his story? First I've heard of him. And the other recruit you mentioned?

He didnt mean Banks, but rather Evans.

Banks was a former bearcat that didnt step on the floor, but for different reasons. He went home for family reasons, which may or may not be that his father has AIDS. That's just what Ive heard...

As for the "other recruit", Im assuming you are referring to Patzwald. He's just a hard working kid that got into trouble. He earned some minor playing time with hard work and made some shots.

He's built like a football player rather than a basketball player...

Yeah, listen to coop not me. Evans has been compared to JJ Reddick. Here is a Bearcat recruiting site that has some good information on him.

It is legit. He personally told me on facebook like 3 months ago of all places. I knew about it but I just didn't tell.

Thats kinda cool. Just shows that Huggs really does care about kids. Obviously he doesnt need Patz on his team, but he is willing to give him a second shot.

I remember also hearing Meeker and Lucas wanted to work under Huggs. Do you think he might give them grad assistant jobs.

Anything is possible. I see a better chance with J. Lucas rather than Meeker.

in regards to evans. does Huggs allow anybody to be 2-sport atheletes? It's been reported that he's a pretty solid football player.

This would not be the first such at k-state in recent times. Rashad Washington played for the b-ball team a few years ago (as well as football obviously), We had a starting #2 or 3 (cant remember) Billy Ray Smith who played football for one season after his eligibility in bball was up (mainly played special teams.) Of course lockett, newman in both football and track and k.wecker in wbball and track. That's all I know of from the modern times.

So, can evans play football too?????

Interesting news on Patz. Justin Winger, current walk-on, will most likely leave K-State so it's probably a shoe-in.

Evans was a very highly rated football prospect coming out of HS. He was recruited by Miami, Virginia, Clemson, and VT. I think he wants to concentrate on bball. Though the walkon idea may have to happen if there isnt a scholarship available.
