I just talked to someone who has very good connections with Duke basketball. He told me some good news.

1) Dunleavy is entering the draft.

2) He is just testing the waters.

3) If it looks like he'll go to a team he wants to have a long career with, he's gone.

4) If it looks like he'll go to a bad team, or a team he doesn't like, he will come back to Duke.

5) The reason he is doing this is to further his knowledge on his draft status. He would have to go with the team that drafts him next year if he stayed this year. This way he has multiple options.

6) He is MORE likely to come back to Duke because of this.

This is very good news, and, this is from a very credible source.

good news indeed, but I don't know who the source is so I have no idea how credible it is.

THB, I can tell you, the source is credible, or else I wouldn't have posted it. I hate getting peoples hopes up and then them being deflated.

From my credible source...

Dunleavy will go no lower than 5...probably 3. If a certain team gets the number 1 pick, they would take Dunleavy. This is an NBA connection, not a Duke connection.

My feeling is that even if the team is horrid, if Dunleavy was going to go #1, he would go.

And no, the source is not NBC's Peter Vesscey, although he did verify today excately what my source told me just two days ago.

Damascus,

I doubt he will go #1, but if he has that opportunity, I think he would be a fool not to jump on it. My guess is that he realizes he might be taken by the Bulls, Warriors or some other dead end team, and he will withdraw his name. If his name is thrown around in a trade to, say, the Heat, or the Lakers, then I think he would go. I really think he wants a place to settle in and win.

Unless he's a top 10 pick......he should return. JMO.

Better for him. Better for his team. Better for college basketball.

If Dunlady is planning to withdrawl his name because he doesnt want to play for a bad team he needs to grow some f*cking balls. The reason bad teams draft guys early is because they think that they will make the team better. If Dunlady is going to b!tch out because he doesnt think he is up to it he deserves to spend his career sitting on the end of the Lakers bench.

The reason he is doing this is to further his knowledge on his draft status. He would have to go with the team that drafts him next year if he stayed this year. This way he has multiple options.

I am sure he has told the teams he is interested in to draft him, and told the ones he does not want to play for to leave him alone. He will not have that option next year. Using that logic alone, he should be going this year, as he has a better chance to land where he wants to land.
