I dont see it as an accomplishment at all, they basically got lucky because they didnt have to play Maryland to get it. With 2 of the top 3 picks and "the best backcourt in America" ( ) they should have done a lot more

Are you trying to say that winning the the ACC Tournament isn't an accomplishment???
No matter which team wins the tourney, it is an accomplishment.
If it isn't, than why does the ACC have it?
Why are "ACC Tourney champs" banners hung?
Why does it automatically give the champion a birth into the NCAAs?
Why do the champions get a trophy?
If you are going to argue that Duke should have done more with such a talented team, then I agree wholeheartedly. But please don't be so irrational to say that being ACC Tourney Champs isn't an accomplishment...because if you do, I am not even going to bother reading the rest of what you say.[/QB]

The ACC tourney like all conference Tourneys while fun to watch is nothing more than a scam to make more money for the conference. A team can win the regular season championship and if they have one bad game in the tourney they lose the conference title and the automatic NCAA bid. The conference Champion should be the team that worked their ass off to be the best all season long not just the team that happened to be hot at the end of the season. There have been plenty of teams that got into the NCAA tourney that had no business being there just because they won the conference tourney. Maryland's first round opponent Sienna made the NCAAs because they won their tourney despite having a frikin losing record. Every year it seems like there is a team from a big conference that gets in after winning their conference tourney and gets spanked by a mid major in their first round game. It is really not fair, a better team may get snubbed because they conference tourney champs get an automatic bid.
All of that said I do enjoy the ACC tourney but I dont think it should crown the ACC champ, I mean look at what NC State almost did a couple years ago, they had a horrible season but almost ran the table in the tourney to get a bid they wouldnt have deserved. Theoretically a horrible team, like Carolina last year, could be the conference champs if they get hot in the tourney.
