From the posts on this thread it appears even rabid Duke fans who never question anything about the program seem to agree with Simonton about K's character and priorities.

Isn't it amusing that Duke basketball keeps giving inside info first to the new site from Roy Hopkins, who went to UMD yet posts contantly that Gary Williams is a drunk womanizing degenerate for no apparent reason, and Wayne Gooch, aka devilblue1, devils1, acchoopsfan1, etc., K's Minister of Propaganda? It's funny how K hangs out with Gooch, Kevin Keogh aka stickdog, and Mark Watson aka watzone, the 3 Duke fans who like to follow him around to recruiting camps and keep the unwashed masses from bothering him while he drools over ballers with the IQ of lint. That trio constantly try to endorse K's rules of censorship of message boards and enforced positive support of K and his program, and much like Hopkins, Gooch likes to hurl all sorts of unwarranted profanity and garbage at people like Gary Williams and message board fans he's never met. Yelling at Chronicle columnists over a decade ago for being too objective instead of slavishly printing unqualified support for K's program was bad enough, but K never learned from all the criticism of that because he never learns anything. People like Gooch write on message boards what K feels but can't say because of his media image. K's ideal fan seems to be a hypocrite that makes up for lack of intelligence with slavish devotion and attacking anyone who questions the questionable. Gooch may be a bandwagoner who doesn't mind making enemies of fans of every other team and every objective Duke fan but he may be the most connected Duke fan on the net, he even seems to know such obscure things as the number of available football scholarships, something even Franks might not be sure of, so he probably hangs out with Alleva and Franks too. K and others at Duke consorting with those types really says a lot about their character and the character of people they choose to hang out with, like SheWill, etc.

How many "official fan sites" does Duke basketball, K, and Duke athletics have? Duke harassed John Watson's predecessor to thedevilsden when it wasn't a pointless propaganda outlet, so he had to change the name of the site and start censoring anything remotely objective, now he's selling Duke merchandise. Why hasn't Duke gone after Blue Devil Beat, or Dukebasketballreport.com after all these years? It's pathetic and hilarious how Duke and K needs to censor everything to try to keep so many ugly truths hidden, the whole university seems to have a reputation for that sort of thing.

... did K's handprint system cost more than Duke's pathetic old $2 million football building? What about the useless air conditioning in Cameron? It's interesting that Alleva and K felt these things were more urgent than upgrading the football facilities, which had to wait years for private funding of the whole building from the only people who cared - former Duke fball players, before even starting construction. Basketball has no problem getting recruits and football needs all the help it could get, too bad Duke basketball runs the school.

First of all, his office is in a second building, adjacent to Cameron. Second, its a private office that is not meant to be toured by anyone whos wishes to see it. And it probably is plush. I mean, if you are the only coach in the school's basketball history to win a championship, and three at that, don't you deserve to be rewarded for your work?
