RE: Dane Bradshaw...
It is amazing the disgusting and tasteless remarks some of you feel compelled to make.
If you some of you are so pathetic to hold a grudge for a kid to pick UT when the school he loved didnt recruit him, then not much can help you. I have a little newsflash for of all you who expect every Memphis kid to beg to walk on at Memphis. IT AINT GOING TO HAPPEN OFTEN AND I WOULD NOT ADVISE MY OWN CHILDREN TO WALK ON WHEN THERE ARE FULL RIDES AVAILABLE!!

And please grow up and get over a young man's impetuous comments. Most of you have forgiven Joey for his idiotic comments before OSU game.

Finally, let us all remember that fandom is a leisure activity and not to be taken too seriously. If you are basing your self-esteem and happiness on whether a team wins or loses, then you need to re-examine your priorities.

Dane was a winner at WSHS, at UTK, and will do well wherever his future leads him.

RE: Dane Bradshaw...
Imagine Antonio Anderson coming out before a UT-Memphis game and saying, "I'm really not looking forward to going over to Knoxville. I'll probably be hanged by a group of guys in white hoods"

That would be stereotyping the city of Knoxville, just like Dane stereotyped the city of Memphis. The guy can try to "clarify" all he wants, but it is pretty clear what he said.

Dude can F off.

Oh, and no, I would not want him as an assistant.

Dane is giving speeches at high schools, rotary clubs, doing book signings, picture ops, etc. Every day in the paper there is something about him and one of his book signings. I thought he was a decent player and he had a few great games, but book signings? Or even a book? The orange are treating this dude like God.
I would have to say he and his family are smart to exploit this, but the orange are dumb asses for buying in to this. WTF

RE: Dane Bradshaw...
yeah, after reading more posts, i have amended my original opinion..

Dane can suck it.
useless panty wipe needs to pack up and take his orange ball sucking family with him.

and as for that hick school 500 miles east of here with lower entrance requirements and a fan base IQ average of 50, i hope it burns to the ground one day.

Dane is giving speeches and do book signings for one reason - - reality slapped his big ugly azz orange face like a Dorsey elbow to welcome him to the real world now that his college basketball career is over and that he has bills to pay now.

RE: Dane Bradshaw...
If Cal wants to give Bradshaw a spot, then I don't have a problem with. As for Bradshaw's comments, he clarified them the day after the game in the Commercial Appeal and apoligized for his choice of words. The way I see it, he came into his hometown, got booed for two plus hours by his hometown, and the only time he received any cheers was when he got elbowed in the face by Joey Dorsey. The most famous picture of him is the picture of Dorsey elbowing him in the face while he's got his hands in Dorsey's crotch area. As far as I'm concerned, he's paid his penance for his comments.

Dane played in some rough area's of Memphis, guess what Memphis has alot of bad areas as do most large cities in America. Funny that many of you so-called memphians that have moved to Desoto county , Collierville , Arlington , Cordova are calling him out. I heard Whitehaven has some really nice homes, sell your home in horn lake or Bartlett and move back before you run down a 22year that calls it like it is.

RE: Dane Bradshaw...
As a Vol fan, I'm sure my opinion will be taken with a grain of salt. However, I feel a little compelled to take up for Bradshaw considering that I feel he is being misrepresented in a lot of these posts and he is, based on my limited experiences, a pretty good guy.

He never really knocked Memphis, contrary to what people might think. His comments, if you read them carefully, basically say nothing will bother him because he's from Memphis, meaning he's tough. It's like a badge of honor that I see in a lot of kids, like "I'm from Detroit, LA, wherever," so I can handle anything. It's saying, "I'm tough, like the city I come from." I thought it was pretty clear when he said it, although I think he got in trouble because he's a white, preppy-looking kid and people assumed he was making some sort of disparaging comment when it was pretty obvious he wasn't. I never understood the big deal.

Anyway, I'm sure this will be taken as a Vol fan telling you how to think, but it's not intended as such. I just wanted to throw my two cents into the discussion because I thought Bradshaw was getting a raw deal from a lot of people over the comments.

It's not often I agree with a UTK fan, but your right, Dane was trying to express his pride in having been a Memphis basketball product. Your post hit the nail on the head.
