next time we have $250 million laying around
we would be wise to get in touch with this company

http://www.startech.net/faqs.html

they have perfected a system which uses plasma energy to break ANY refuse except nuclear waste into its component elements. the by products are useful gasses such as propane, hydrogen and a solid material that can be used for ceramic tiles and asphalt. and oh by the way - it PRODUCES more electricity than it consumes.

a unit sized for a million people now costs about $250 million - estimates are that it would have paid for itself in less than 10 years. not to mention solve our solid waste disposal problems (and maybe even let us dig up some old fills). Many large cities such as NYC are installing these units as well as many foreign countries.

just a better use of our dollars than a basketball arena IMO.

I guess you are saying you are now fully on the, "We didn't need the Forum" team?
I felt like I was pretty much all by myself 6 years ago going against it. Seems like I have a lot more company now.

i would much rather have the FedExForum over the "lets turn crap into energy" plant...knowing Memphis, it would be put under the control of MLGW and used to run edmund ford's funeral home.

Go Tigers!!!

Immaterial to the discussion. We needed the FedExForum when it was decided we needed the Grizzlies. We were not going to get one without the other.

I could not have cared less if the Grizzlies came or went somewhere else at the time. I believed all along that if the Tigers won, the issue would take care of itself whether the Grizzlies were around or not. That has proven true. Now that the Grizzlies are here, I hope they do well since it behooves the taxpayers of the city and county that they do.

I just am not spending much of my cash to help them.

The problem is we fell into the problem of need or want. Some high ups wanted the grizzle. We surely didn't need them.
