Carver athlete Monte Anthony decided to end his recruitment early, and chose to stay close to home, but distance was not the only deciding factor.

"Monte called me yesterday to let me know that he was going to Wake Forest, and he is happy to go there," says Carver head coach Keith Wilkes. "They did a great job of recruiting him, and showing him a lot of things at their camp, and he was very happy to end up there."

Purvis, a 5-foot-9, 180 pound speedster could end up playing any of two or three positions for the Demon Deacons.

"He is one of the fastest sprinters in the state, and they just love how fast he is," coach Wilkes says of the Wake Forest coaches. "They think he could play running back, cornerback, or possibly return kicks early on."
