Serious question...I always wonder what drives people to believe one way or the other.

That is part of my question, what is the concrete evidence of evolution.

Evolutiojn- nil on evidence, and poor science. It's phlogiston for the 19th-20th C.

By the way, here is what I believe...

[quote] The Beginning

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2 Now the earth was [a] formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning

Yup, no evidence. 03-yawn I'm not going to sit here and rehash all the arguments that have stood the test of scrutiny by many others. But if you want to read up, a good place to start would be here.

The question was why do/don't you believe in evolution. I don't believe in Evolution because of faith. I also don't believe in evolution because I have never seen definitive proof.

If you would have left it at "I don't believe in evolution because of my faith", I wouldn't have had a problem, but that's not what you said. You added that evolutionists have to do the same thing, because there is no proof.

That doesn't lend itself to much of a conversation, especially when you ask the initial question.

could it be in theory that there is a creator ( a god if you want to call it that) and it was hands off and let evolution take over the natural course of thignS?

Are the two mutually exclusive..?

If man is made in god's image and likeness per Genesis, what if the likeness is in spiritual/soul terms as opposed to a physical one..? Perhaps when Man was first created he was closer in physical resemblance to Australopithecus afarensis than Homo Sapiens..?

I personally believe that they are not.

My religion and my faith tell me "God created the heavens and the earth".
IMO science attempts to tell me how "God created the heavens and the earth". Sometimes science gets it right and sometimes science gets it wrong, but there is very little science that I see that makes me not believe that "God created the heavens and the earth".

Nuff said.

Going a bit off topic; sorry. Here is my non serious question: Where in Genesis is the verse discussing the First Law of Thermodynamics and how it was applied during creation? I don't disbelieve the First Law just because it's not described in the bible. Nor do I disbelieve the bible because Genesis doesn't seem to follow the First Law. So why is it that so many cannot see Genesis 1:26 (or all of the first chapter of Genesis) as a general description of creation, without the details. Why couldn't God have guided and overseen evolution as part of creation?

Answering the question: there is overwhelming evidence to demonstrate that evolution occurred. Like much other scientific thought, I'm more than happy to admit there are gaps of information that could be filled in. But none that make me question its validity.

I'd like somebody to explain to me why (during the evolutionary process) some women came out really really hot, some smoking hot, and some just kind of nice but not so hot. And during the evolutionary process what kind of blobs came together that make us want to suck the brains out of really really hot ones and not the not so hot? How did all this happen in the evolutionary process?

But how do genetic blobs know which women are hot and which are not?
