zito 7 years 105
espn xm radio is reporting that the rangers offered zito 7 years 105 million! i dont think the mets should go that high for a second tier pitcher. they said it could be signed quickly i think boras will hold him for the winter meetings!

i'm sure terpy will disagree with me, but all these contracts prove how much money these teams are making. I mean, the word is, if MLB put mlb.com on the stock market, it would be worth $4 billion. Also, peter gammons says the between mlb.com, revenue sharing and tv money, the royals are getting $100 million. Baseball is making a lot of money and i couldn't be happier.

I dont know, I thought I read that all but a handful of teams lose money every year, either way it is peanuts compared to what the NFL makes.

nah, baseball's making tons of money. I think the big tell will be what the D-rays end up giving iwamura.

Yeah, the NFL teams make more, but that's because of their massive tv contracts. But i'll tell you what, baseball teams don't screw over their players like the NFL does. In football, mark derosa's contract is considered to be damn good money, in baseball it's nothing.

I dont know what Mark Derosa makes but that is part of the problem, why baseball is struggling and football is flourishing. All the money in baseball is guaranteed, while in football, it isnt. Salaries in baseball dont match up with the profit margins.
