Report: Glavine, Mets talking two-year, $25M dealESPN.com ne
Tom Glavine won 15 games for the Mets and anchored a pitching staff that was decimated by injuries for the postseason stretch. Now it appears New York is ready to reward the 20-year veteran.
Glavine
Glavine and the Mets are "deep in discussions" on a two-year, $25 million contract, according to a report in the New York Daily News.
Glavine was reportedly considering a return to the Braves to be closer to his family, still living in the Atlanta area.
Both the Mets and Glavine have options on Glavine's contract for the 2007 season but have insisted that they want a mutual agreement.
The Mets' ace is 48-48 with a 3.85 ERA in four seasons with the team. He posted a 15-7 record with a 3.82 ERA in 198 innings in 2006 and pitched 13 scoreless innings over his first two postseason starts before allowing three runs in four innings and suffering a defeat in Game 5 of the NL Championship Series.
Glavine is 290-191 for his career with a 3.46 ERA.
