Clinton is what he is, he did what he did. Crying because history cannot be changed seems to be more the province of Clinton's party.

Foley's actions were reprehensible, but they were not as bad as Barney Frank, who actually had sex with an intern. He was reelected five times after that. Full support from the Democratic party. That would be a better comparison. Clinton's intern was at least of legal age. But he did have sex with her and lied under oath about it. And lied to us, the American people, to our faces. Gosh, if he had just emailed her, there would have been no impeachment - unless he lied about those emails under oath, of course.

A lot has been made of Republican inaction, but this latest "October surprise" has the smell of something the Dems have had on the shelf for a while. Their timing is impeccable - we won't find out what they knew and when until after the election. An A+ in the dirty tricks department.

What are you cheering about anyway?

Honestly I can't blame Clinton for lying in his case... am I happy about it, no, but at the same time he knew if he admitted to it that his wife was going to beat the crap out of him... he did what pretty much any man caught with his pants down (pun intended) would do: lie, lie lie.

The whole thing about the Clinton impeachment that pissed me off is that many of the people calling for his head were doing the same thing (as in cheating on their wife). The one with the loudest voice was Newt, who we all found out was doing the same. Newt backed himself into the wall with all the things during the Clinton situation which forced him to either step down or be a complete and total hypocrite.

Just my $.02, but if I am cheating on my wife I'm not going to go on national television and call for the President to step down because he is doing the same.

Foley is a sick son of a ***** and should be thrown in jail.

For the last time I don't care if Bill Clinton got blown every day twice a day by interns. The lawsuit and the impeachment were not about oral sex for Bubba. It was about lying under oath and breaking the promise you made an oath to withhold. I guess we should just throw out all standards.
We have yet another Kennedy driving around D.C. under alcohol and drugs and he gets a slap on the wrist goes into rehab and gets right back to work for the good folks that elected him.
The 1983 page sex scandal makes Foley look like baby crap. Those guys not only had sex with the interns but did not even resign and went on to be re-elected time and time again. Barney balls across the chin Frank is still in office while having a prostitution ring run out of his apartment and fixing 33 traffic violations of the Pimp he lived with.

For Democrats who defend Bubba. Every single woman who accused him of either sleeping with them, sexually harassing them or raping them was a registered Democrat. The guy obviously is a party man and does not sleep with, harass or rape Republican women. For his loyalty to his party I commend him.

I don't blame him for lying to his wife. Perfectly understandable.

I don't even blame him for lying to you and me, the American public. Not happy about it, but again it is understandable.Public officials do lie. Patrick Kennedy, Teddy Kennedy, Mark Foley, etc. ad infinitum.

But what you and so many others don't get is the difference between lying to his wife and lying to a court of law under oath.

If you want to lie to your wife, about anything, that;s between you and her. But that does not give you the right to lie in a court of law, even if it is the same topic. Even if you think it is none of the court's business. Even if your wife might find out.

Every act of perjury is understandable - people don't want to get caught and punished for their misdeeds, and lie to avoid that. Just because it is understandable does not make it right.

How can all these people not get that?

edit: No one who called for the president to step was doing the same UNLESS THEY ALSO HAD COMMITTED PERJURY. he was impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice, not adultery or philandering.

Rehab seems to be the answer to every problem.

yup, it's probably the 30 day one too. I call that a "spin cycle", not rehab.

Kennedy, Foley, it's just a way to avoid the media and make it sound like they are doing something to change.

He may only be there for a short amount of time, but rumor has it that the Scientologists will be administering the rehab, so he'll be cured by the weekend.

Muhammad banged a 9yr old so maybe Foley should convert to Islam. Then again he is a homosexual which is a crime punishable by death, so probably not a good idea. He might want to go the Scientology route. Tom Cruise could be his spiritual leader. Couple viewings of BattleField Earth and he could be ready to return to Congress.

Because when most GOPers bring it up, the lying under oath is a secondary feature of their point. The point that usually gets hammered is the blow jobs.

Disagree.

But the most important question is, do you understand the difference? Because if you keep defending him saying, it was just about sex, then you are the one focusing on the BJ and ignoring the perjury.
