flyingswoosh Wrote:this is the most ridiculous thread ever. Harry Potter books are my favorite books and they helped get me back into reading. Also, i'm a die hard Christian and i don't think witchcraft is real. On the flip side, my mom is also a strict christian, and she actually thinks halloween is bad. had she been a christian when i was younger, she wouldnt've let me go trick or treating.

'Harry potter is bad for kids.' what BS!! only ignorant parents can possibly think that.

Flyingswoosh, you are deceived if you don't think witchcraft is real. Also, how can you be a die hard Christian and never read your Bible? You seem to be ignorant of the many passages that describe the sin of witchcraft. I Sam 15:23 is just one for starters. What I think you are is a kid who was brought up in a church environment (and yes your parents may have overdone it or been very religious) and you are now in rebellion against it. You're as far away from the Lord as you have ever been, and you don't mind indulging your flesh as much as possible. You're going to reap what you sow. And since you don't read your Bible much (and you're lying to use about being a die hard Christian) that verse is in Galatians 6:7.

wow, i think you just proved how fanatical and insane you are.

1) i was never brought up in a church environment. I'm 18 and my dad is a Jew who hasn't practiced, or even been to synagogue in about 40 years. My mom never practiced, or mentioned religion for the first 14 years of my life. She found Christianity about 5 years ago. My dad, sister and I, never went to Church with her, or bought into her religious stuff.

2) I found God and started going to church on my own, not because of my mom, this past December.

3) there was never a time i didn't celebrate Halloween (until i outgrew the whole costume thing of course). My parents never forbade me from enjoying the day. They thought it was fun too.

For me, this has nothing to do with religion. it has everything to do with common sense. People might try to practice witchcraft, i wouldn't know. But i can say with absolute certainty, that magic doesn't exist, and those people who try to practice it, never produce anything. Magic isn't real!! Just because you're religious, doesn't mean you're excused from having common sense.

It's time to take your relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ seriously flyingswoosh. Right now you seem to be wanting to be able to serve the Lord and Satan. If you really are a Christian, God is going to deal with you--perhaps severely for your own sake. If you continue to expose yourself to demonic powers, you may soon find yourself in a lot of trouble. As I said before God isn't mocked. Whatever you sow into, you are going to reap out of. Are you willing to surrender your life to the Lord or not? Or do you arrogantly think you have the fruits of the Holy Spirit and indulge our flesh as you please without the rule of law? I'm telling you, you will find that it is not possible to do that. Your sins will catch up with you. The Lord God Himself said that He isn't mocked. You can not make a mock of sin as you seem to be doing.

wow, first i found this humorous, now i find it scary. You sound like this right wing religious fanatic who stands outside the cafeteria at western carolina univ. and yells religious crap at people, calling girls sluts for what they're wearing and that they'll go to hell and all that stuff. Are you always like this?

If you think the lord thinks Harry Potter is demonic, the you need some help... seriously. JK Rowling is a good lady who was poor and has a great imagination. She wrote an amazing series of books and now she's rich, and gives money to tons of charities. To call her or her work, demonic, is grounds for a serious psychic analysis.

Did God create it?

And since you are quoting the Bible on witchcraft, how does your version of Ex. 22:18 read?

No response.

We wonder why people are leaving the church when guys like Endzone2 make it seem so happy and full of love.

You realize you're going off on a guy who's professed his faith in the same God as you? Is the fact that he doesn't think that witches are going to kick his door in really that damning?

A woman in Georgia is trying to get Harry Potter banned from the libraries.

Hey, I don't allow it in my house, but I would never ask for it to be removed from the library's shelves.

Preacher Gary!!! That guy came to UNC Charlotte all the time. One time he told a sorority girl the reason she smoked was because she longed for something else to be in her mouth. 04-jawdrop She turned around, pushed him off of the bench he was standing on and then dumped his briefcase on the lawn.

Hilarious.

Yeah. She's an embarassment to Christianity. Why doesn't someone from her local church rebuke her?

The Georgia woman may be a real dope, but this guy has to take the idiot of the year award.

Quote:Alton Verm's request to ban "Fahrenheit 451" came during the 25th annual Banned Books Week. He and Hines said the request to ban "Fahrenheit 451," a book about book burning, during Banned Books Weeks is a coincidence.

No sense of irony.
