DA REVIEWS/ MO
Ok... I finally watched Signs and The Villiage after much hesitation after being let down by Unbreakable (coming after THe Sixth Sense).
Signs:
Basic plot:
A "former' preacher renounces god after wife gets killed by someone sleeping at the wheel has his farm attacked by an alien invasion. The invasion brings him back to God and his family.
MO:
I was suprised I liked it as much as I did. Aliens were kind of creepy and the home invasion worked really well. The only thing I didn't like was all hte moping acting tones by all the charachters. I guess it tryuly could have been a somber time in their lives but it was a little much. ONE thing though... what was the "TWIST" in this movie? --best I can do is things happen for a reason and you might not know why at first but upon reflection later you will see it that way. Anyone care to offer a differing opinion?
The Villiage
Basic Plot:
1800s era PA villaige has some random attacks happening to their inhabitants and livestock by OUTSIDERS. And you find out who the outsiders are and where they are...... Movie reolves around who will have to venture outside their woods to get medical help for two injured towns people.
I thought htis movie was better than I was told it was. The ending was kind of a mind job....but I could see it as happening though...
SPOILER ALERT!!!!

I think the idea was real cool..basically people who suffered loss in "real life" and sought to make a villiage outside the "real world" to be happy once again. I like the fact that this idea was kept out of the movie till the end.... the whole time you were thinking that the monsters were real monsters and this lowly villiage was was trying not to be killed by them. And the fact that htey didn't want to go into the woods to seek outside help for medicine was kind of intense.. then when she "goes over" and then the park ranger goes into the office and M Knight talks about the set up.... that was a big mind job.... neat twist though.
SO was Lady in the Water any good?
I'll probabbly pose a DVD review of V for Vandetta, Inside Man, Silent Hill, and City Hunter later on.
