Lasting Milledge has been call up
Mets put the X-man on the DL bringing up the stud they wouldnt trade Zito for, combine with the second start of Soler
NEW YORK -- The Mets placed outfielder Xavier Nady on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday and recalled outfielder Lastings Milledge from Triple-A Norfolk of the International League.
Nady underwent an appendectomy on Tuesday at approximately 5:30 a.m. at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Nady should be able to resume baseball activities in seven to 10 days.
In 45 games, Nady was hitting .267 with nine home runs and 22 RBIs.
Milledge, 21, was batting .291 (53-for-182) with 32 runs scored, 16 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 19 RBIs and eight stolen bases in 50 games for the Tides.
Milledge batted .327 (18-for-55) with 10 runs scored, two doubles, one home run, seven RBIs and two stolen bases in 23 Spring Training games.
Milledge was New York's first-round (12th overall) selection in the 2003 First-Year Player Draft from Lakewood Ranch High School in Bradenton, Fla.

if you were minaya would you trade milledge and pelfrey for schmidt? i mean, if they had schmidt, they'd be the clear the favorite to go all the way, not to mention he'd be able to rest their overworked bullpen.

no and he wont. Look at Reyes and Wright, two young stars which cost you nothing. If we wouldnt trade Milledge for Zito or Manny why would we want to trade two of our great prospects for schmidt. The mets have two of the top ten pitchers in the national league and that is enough to have a shot at the championship
P.S> Pelfrey is a college pitcher, so he doesnt take as long to develop in the minors. Maybe a Late august call up

you think pelfrey is gonna come through for you in the postseason? yeah, craig hansen was great last year as a college pitcher who shot up through the system.
you guys do have an amazing top of the rotation, but there are 2 glaring problems. the back end is awful and the top 2 don't go a lot of innings, which is why the pen is obviously gonna be overworked. i mean, heilmann throws everyday.

you don't think you have to win now? man, get off the crunk juice. Your only two SP's are on the downside of their careers. Pedro isn't as much old as he is fragile. Glavine, on the other hand, is most definitely old. With all the money minaya spent, and how weak baseball is, i'd say you probably should try to win now.

why would we take pelfrey? the guy hasn't done much of anything in the minors and has only been in pro ball for less than a year. if we would've traded schmidt last year, we coulda gotten what the marlins got from the sox for beckett. if i were minaya i would much rather have schmidt than zito. anyway, they're both free agents.
