I presume then you have also rejected Islam?

It is a difficult thing for any religion that thinks it has the path to Life after Death to say there are others whose path is just as good or better.

Maybe you believe in one of the reincarnation-based religions?

no problem there. organized religion isn't for everyone. it works for me.

All religions can't be right, so if you believe in God, logically, one has to be. (you being a general statement, not you specifically)

i don't know if there is really and truely a god. now there very well may be but i prefer to not comment on that until i have a definitive answer i'm more interested in finding peace and harmony with the world and i do think that the eastern way of thinking(this is not an endorsement of anykind for any eatern religion or western religion) is more in line with that principle ( and i would have interperred you as a general used in that verbage. as that statement would make no sense if this was to be a intelligent discussion)

There is but one way to eternal life:

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6

What if you have an addictive behavior in your life and you keep sinning, but you want to get out of it? What if you have accepted Jesus and want to follow Him, but keep getting tripped up? What happens to your soul when you die?

Good Question,
What if you live on a remote island in the south pacific and have never heard of Jesus, Mohammad or Budda and you lived a good life. Where does your soul go then???

If your religion allows you to go to paradise, what do you do for eternity?? Are there jobs?? I can't imagine just hanging out for eternity. For a coach potato that may sound like paradise but for a lot of us that does not sound like much fun.

I don't know, and neither does anyone else, for certain. We also have no idea if a "soul" even exists. And if a soul does exist, what it is exactly.

Well to answer your first question I will quote from the first chapter of Romans. BTW, I believe the Bible to be absolute truth and you may not. But anyway:

Romans 1:18-23

Quote:For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness: Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God has shown it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful: but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

According to this verse IMHO it would seem your guy on the beach in the South Pacific who is just living it up and has no relationship with God and does not honor and worship him would in fact be held accountable.

As to your second question you're going to be amazed at how some things there in heaven are similar to things on Earth. People will not just sit on clouds, playing harps, and popping grapes in their mouth. The crystal sea and river of life flowing through the heavenly city is better than any beach in the VI and I've been to St. Croix and it is beautiful. These are bodies of water (like water or whatever) that are pure joy and the closer you get to them the more joy you have in your life. I'm talking way beyond being happy. Unless you've had a taste of it, it is something I can't really describe in words. But trust me, you're not going to give a rip about anything bad that happened to you when you were on Earth. It will all seem totally insignificant. I don't know this for sure, but other Christians who claim to know say that the closer you live to it, the more of this you have in your life. This may be just one way the Lord rewards more those who lived their lives completely for Him--I don't know for sure. Jesus plainly said, "In my Father's house are many mansions" so there are going to be houses there--big ones.

I guess we could take this even further and try to calculate how many people might actually make it in there. We are told in Revelation 21 that the new Jerusalem is a city in the shape of a cube about 1300 miles cubed. I don't believe it is multi-level but all on one level. But how high could the buildings be and stuff like that? I don't know. I just finished reading a book called "90 Minutes in Heaven" and the first chapter was about the things this pastor saw in heaven. No, it was not one of these "light at the end of a tunnel" kind of things. After a horrendous car accident he was translated there. He said the walls of it were so high that you could not see the end of them.

edited for spelling

So are you saying the guy on the beach would go to hell for all eternity just because he was unlucky enough to live on a remote part of the earth and for that matter all Buddhist who live peacefully would go to hell because they have not accepted Jesus???

Let me interpret the passage in Romans for you. What it says is that when you look up at the stars on a clear quiet cool night, you know that there is a God.

As far as the other religions, you have to be willing to lie to yourself to believe these religions. You realize after a while that they are man-made religions and can't possibly be true. I remember going through my stint in philosophy when was a 18 or 19. After a while I chucked all my philosophy books because I realize they were just vain imaginations of men. I came to realize the Bible is the truth. People who resist the truth just enjoy their sin and like running their own show. That is why they continue to hold onto it. After a while those raghead guys in the middle east have to understand that throwing out a prayer rug 4 times and day and bowing down to the ground is just a form of man made religion to a false god. But there must be some benefit to them for doing that rather than be willing to acknowledge the truth.

If you look at religion as man's attempt to get closer to God (for ease of conversation, I'll use this term), then by definition, all must have validity.

If God is omnipotent and omniscient, then it stands to reason that God speaks to all of us differently. A question to all parents out there: are your relationships with each of your children identical? Probably not, because they are each individuals. Another question, this time for everyone: if you decide to come to Atlanta this weekend, how are you getting here, if you're driving? I would venture that those of you north of here would take a different route than someone from, say N. Texas, who would take a different route than someone from, say, Houston.

In a nutshell, what I'm saying is that by putting all of these restrictions on who sees/understands God's love and God's eternal embrace is all just BS, because last time I checked, none of us are God.

To me, that is one of the biggest problems with organized religion: The people making up the rules forget that THEY are not the ones who should be in charge.

I'll ignore the overt racism and ignorance in this post to point you that YOU came to realize the Bible as truth, but not everyone else has. There are more reasons than not to understand why other paths may (and likely are) be equally valid.

The question for you and others that I have to ask is this: Is your faith so insecure that you can not fathom the concept of another's being equally valid to yours?

PS: You little diatribe against Muslims sounds almost identical to their diatribe against Christians and Jews.
