Well I'm not sure. I hope he doesn't leave ever but as we all know it will happen sometime. Would we be safe to promote from within or would we be better off by getting a young guy from somewhere else. Whoever it is better win a couple championships or he will get run out of town.

I think we'd probably hire from within depending on the situation(what coaches are here, how successful we've been up until then, etc...). Like sportsnut mentioned, as long as Joe C. is here I feel great!

I hope that you guys are right. We hope that Stoops the man will stay forever. But as I said in my previous post he will definitely have to go at some point. And to be honest it wasn't that hard to make a decision on Stoops. The guy was one of the top coordinators in the country and just about any AD in the country would have hired him. It was a nobrainer. What happens next time? We are Oklahoma so I'm sure that there will be a plentiful group to choose from. But we have to make sure that we don't get into a Notre Dame type situation.

Stoops isn't going anywhere for a long, long time. He enjoys the college game, and he has developed a love for the people at Oklahoma. If he didn't go to Florida this last time, there's no reason to think that he'll go if Zook falters. His emotional ties to OU will be stronger in a few years than they were this year when he opted to stay a Sooner.

I don't think he's going anywhere for a while either. Now, back in January when Stoops was the subject of speculation as possibly being Steve Spurrier's successor at Florida, that was certainly a very big test for him.
The way I see it, Stoops had virtually every reason to go to Florida. He chose not to because he knows he has a great gig at OU, furthermore if it weren't for him, Oklahoma would still likely be mired in the funk and mediocrity of the Schnellenberger/Blake era.
I'm thoroughly convinced without Stoops coming in and giving the program a swift kick in the rear, there would have been no national championship in 2000 and none of the usually positive ripple effect that such an achievement has on an institution's self-esteem.
