The point of this thread is that Matt Doherty is a bad recruiter despite what the UNC homers will tell you. He couldn't steal Sean Banks away from Maryland with double the lies and money he sent off to Jawab in that FedEx envelope.

That doesn't mean he's a good recruiter. He signed two lifelone UNC fans who would have had to been pryed away from the school. Those were easy.

Then he whiffs on every big man in the country until Bobby Knight finally steps in and persuades the Mays to dog Mike Davis just because Knight holds a grudge and is a vindictive POS.

And the previous class wasn't all that either. Manuel has to be one of the worst offensive players in history. Melvin Scott is a nice ACC roll player but that's it. And it's well known that he lied his ass off to Jawab in order to land him. And now Jawab hates him and wants to get out of there as soon as possible.

Doherty a bad recruiter? Give me a break. The people who say this just don't want to give him any support at all. He has signed 4 all americans in 2 years. THREE this year! Jawad is going to be a very good player. Felton will come in and may push Duhon for top PG honers next year. McCants showed what he's got in the McDonald's game. And May just blew up in the Indiana-UK all star game.

If you don't like Doherty's coaching style, that is fine. But don't say that he cannot recruit when he's signed the #3 and #2 classes in the entire nation in back-to-back years.

Blake will be the best point guard in the ACC next season, and Felton will be the second best, lack of experience being the only thing stopping him from being the best. Heck, Keith Jennifer is already better than frikin Duhon. Duhon will be lucky to be the fourth best PG in the ACC but that would be only because everyone else in the league will be starting freshmen or upperclassmen with little experience. I wouldnt be suprised if Jarret Jack is much better than Duhon as well. As you can tell Im not much of a Duhon fan. <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" />

Like I said, getting two lifelong UNC fans and getting bailed out by Bobby Knight does not a great recruiter make.

And do you REALLY think the 2001 class was one of the 3 best in the nation? Two roll players and a forward who may or may not be any good.

The UNC jersey does 95% of the recruiting for that school. Yet Doherty still couldn't get a big man to save his life last year. Only Bobby Knight talking the Mays into UNC bailed Doherty out.

You put Doherty on your average high major team and he'll be lucky to get a couple warm bodies every year. There's a reason Forte told Carmelo Anthony to steer clear of UNC and Doherty.

Jenibu,
Obviously you don't get my tag line at all.

So what? I mispelled a word. Please, forgive me.
