Of course, none of this may apply a week from now.

1. I was kinda disppointed when Jason Giambi bolted the A's for the Yankees, but I have accepted it and wish him the best of luck. However, he hasn't gotten off to a great start with his new club. Maybe he needs to relax. Even newly-retired Mark McGwire called his old A's teammate (from '95 to '97) and told him he was pressing (I saw this on a wire story at sports.yahoo.com).

2. You just gotta know the Texas Rangers aren't all there when they can get beaten by their Triple A Club in Oklahoma City in the exhibition game last Sunday. I don't especially like or follow the Rangers -- until this year. I still don't like them much, but they're certainly going to be interesting to watch between the inevitable antics of Carl Everett, John Rocker, Hideki Irabu, etc.

3. Fear the Cardinals. They look okay ... even though they dropped a game to the Rockies with Garrett Stephenson on the mound (isn't he coming back kinda soon from Tommy John surgery?), and they dropped the getaway game against same with Andy Benes on the mound (he's getting kinda old). They looked really sharp Friday against the Astros, and look the same way tonight, although it looks like ace Matt Morris is struggling a little bit. Game is tied at 2, top of the sixth, as I write this.

4. I'm not about to say "Fear the Devil Rays" ... surely they'll come back down to earth soon.

More to come.

2. I wonder if the Phillies will have a run similar to last year's.
3. I hope. If I was there, I would.
4. Did they ever? I mean, really.
5. The Detroit Kittens, makin' a litterbox out of Comerica. Cobb and Greenberg must be gyrating in their tombs.
