How about the time Childress's freshman year, he scored 28 points at Alabama with one Latrell Sprewell guarding him. Or, his sophomore year when he hit six three pointers six straight times down the court against #1 ranked Carolina. Wake went on to give them a 26 point beating that day. Or, the time he and Rodney Rogers absolutely destroyed Duke in Durham his sophomore year. I could name more if you want me to. These all happened before Tim Duncan ever set foot on the Wake campus.

God, I wish all Wake players could have the kind of success Jordan had in college.

And for the record, JWill is the best guard I have seen in college since Gary Payton was tearing it up at Oregon State.

I believe Mr Dixon has just bumped himself up that list a bit by leading his team to a national championship. He was absoloutely great in this tournament. Sort of what you would expect from a POY type player.

He will always be the greatest to me. No logic will ever sway me!

Whereinas when Battier is in your way, he usually ended up flopping his ass down and looking at the ref to see if he drew the foul he was trying to draw.

Both acceptible basketball techniques..

Big Case, I've always respected "most" of your posts but here I must concur on one thing... JWill is definitely not the BEST guard in ACC history.

He very well is one of the best, hands down. Also, he is a very classy guy that doesn't seem to talk a lot of trash, a la Julius Hodge, but lets his game do the talking for him, period.

In my mind, here is the list of best guards in ACC history:

1. Phil Ford
2. Bobby Hurley/Juan Dixon (tie)
3. John Lucas/Jason Williams (tie)
4. Johnny Dawkins
5. Mark Price
6. Randolph Childress, I actually knew him from
my old gym in Maryland
7. Walt Williams, played guard/forward so he
qualifies
8. Chris Corchiani/Rodney Monroe (tie)
9. Sam Cassell
10.Chris Whitney

The funny thing is, is that Juan is a team player,...thats why he never won NPOY...JWilly is a BALLHOG and won NPOY...Juan lead his team to the National Championship and won...Battier lead Duke to their's...

I'll give you this,...JWill is in the top 5 in guards...Battier is in the top 3 forwards...

The NBA won't take people who like to dribble and shoot and do everything by themselves...thats why Mateen Cleaves is riding the bench of the Kings...MJ is an exception...

I will be gone tonight from 5:00 to 1:30...im going to go to the Pistons-Kings game...i'll tell you if Cleaves plays...btw, im in Michigan on SB if you didn't know....

Ballhogs don't average 5.96 assists for their career.

Latrine Cleaves didn't have 1/10 the J that Superstah has.

On the other hand, Superstah is nowhere near the defender or passer that Latrine was.

Sorry, if I left anyone out... I keeping thinking Jordan was a small forward... whatever put him and Cota on that list anywhere you like...

If JWill stayed another year it would put him in the top two, easily... I will agree on that.

Unfortunately, I can't (opinion only, mind you) put him higher or Kenny Anderson because they didn't stay long enough to either be higher or listed. Kenny Anderson, if he would have stayed, probably would've overtaken Phil Ford. Ford, though he never won a NC, is still the best guard in ACC history, to date. Coming from a Terp fan that is a hard thing for me to swallow but, sometimes you have let realism kick in.

Talent wise, I will agree JWill probably, and I say this lightly, is considered the best guard in the ACC, if not in the NCAA. But then Jordan would have to be up there on that qualification too. Another one, who may have smashed all of these guys would be Stephon Marbury. That guy was ready before he went to grammar school I bet.
