Clemson was ranked 27th in the ESPN/USA Today poll before the FSU game. After the FSU game 41st. Drop 14 spots? Did anyone watch this game. Clemson looked very good out there. After the first 5 games does Clemson really look that bad, that they don't belong in the top 40?

Here's a question for the FSU fans out there. Did you guys really humilate Clemson that bad that they'd drop that far. Clemson could have very easily won that game and then guess what probably a top 20 team. Makes no sense to me.

I guess there goes respect out the window for another year.

FSU dropped too. How is this possible? Two teams played great out there, the favored team won, and both of them dropped in the polls.

I don't understand it....

I have posted numbers of how the BCS leagues do
against each other. I have to believe that we
are not the only folks who know that.

It is the double standard of the world of College
Athletics. The country rises in Unison and
demands for it "to be decided on the field."

Then when it is decided against their "likings"
they rebel!

If I read one more story about the SEC being 28-8
in non-conference games, I'm going to scream.

Yeah...they are...but in games against the other
BCS leagues they are 5-8. And their wins...
South Carolina over TEMPLE!
Tennessee over RUTGERS!
Auburn over Syracuse in OT @ Auburn
Kentucky over Indiana (who has only beaten Wm&Mary
and Central Mich.
The only decent win...
Georgia by 3 over Clemson and they were lucky to
win that game.

That's odd in its own right. Georgia beats Clemson by 3, and is ranked Number 6! Fla State
beats Clemson by 17 and drops to 12th!

There ain't five teams in the country who have
receivers as good as Clemson's #1 and #21...and
not a half-dozen QB's in the country who put
on a first half like Simmons had against Us...
and they fall 14 spots!

We took everything Clemson threw at us...only
had the ball for 4 minutes in the second quarter
yet scored 21 points. In the second half, Clemson
only had 17 plays from scrimmage. And Michigan
passes us in the polls and we fall to 12th.

I'm afraid if we and Clemson win out, the pollsters will have us in 1AA!

I mentioned this once before in another post somewhere else on these boards. The ACC gets
no respect. I was happy when I saw the Maryland
score and elated when I saw that Carolina had
comeback to win.

We just have to keep winning...And for, not only
Florida State, but for the respect of the ACC...It
starts Saturday in Miami!

Its funny about these polls, but after the very first game of the season against Iowa State, I made a joke, I said FSU would be the only team to win games and drop in the polls, and look what happens this past Sunday. ALL JOKES ARE OFF!!!

You guys are exactly right, the ACC is very under-rated - we get no respect. I really try not to pay attention to the polls during mid year. I just like to see who's ranked at the end of the year, that's when the strength of a conference shows. I can promise you that Clemson and Florida State will be in the top 25 and hopefully joined by NC State or another by the year end. We just have to keep playing tough, especially with out of conference foes.

The respect the ACC gets when it comes to football is sort of like the respect the United States gets in World Cup Soccer. No matter how hard you try and how good you are, there will always be the non believers. Even if Duke won the National Championship the ACC still wouldnt get any respect. We will always have that 'tag' as a basketball conference. Thats why Florida State takes so much heat for playing in the ACC, its always, why dont you guys join the Big 10, join the SEC and so on. Same goes for all the other conference powerhouses, I always hear that "If my team was in the ACC we would have alot more National titles by now" and so on. We just have to face it, no matter what the polls say, what the stats say, the ACC will never get any respect

If it's any consolation, this SEC fan regards the ACC as light years ahead of the Big East. They have two teams and then a slew of also-rans. The ACC has one powerhouse and a slew of blue-chippers. Hell, this year I might even consider the ACC over the Big Ten. Which is saying a great deal considering that Michigan is my second favorite team. Tell you what, if the Noles can find a way to topple Miami--I promise to support the ACC in all games except ones against SEC teams.

We're gaining respect slowy but surely. I say that in the next few years we could be one of the top conferences although we do need to expand 2 to 3 teams in order for that to happen.
