Baseball: Clemson could climb to No. 1

Clemson's perfect week and Florida State's lost weekend could result in the Tigers moving to the top of the college baseball rankings today.

The Tigers (18-1) were ranked No. 2 in the country in all three major polls last week and won their four games since the last ratings were released.

Florida State was ranked No. 1 in two of the three polls last week, but lost three straight Atlantic Coast Conference games at North Carolina this weekend.

Clemson spokesman Tim Bourret said the Tigers' last No. 1 ranking was in the Collegiate Baseball poll on March 27, 2000. Stanford was ranked No. 1 in one poll and No. 3 in the other two last week. The Cardinal swept a series at Southern California, which could springboard them past Clemson in the rankings.
