Well, this gives Doherty the chance to add the athletic players he's wanted. The darned 5/8 rule is going to be a pain, however. I'm sorry to see him go, because I think he's a great kid. Lots of folks were highly critical of him and his athleticism and speed early in the year. Maybe he got tired of hearing the crap. I wish him well.

I agree Bomber. I think he needs to be "the man" and he knows with Felton coming in, he wont be. Best of luck to him. He is a quality young man. And, I will not have to yell at him for dribbling into a corner and picking up his dribble ever again.

This is awful news. Boone was a great person and was developing into a very solid basketball player. He made great improvements this year during such a tough season. I know Felton will be the guy that will most likely run the pt next season, but he will only be a freshman. We cannot put too much on him, the mentorship that Boone could have given him would have been great, not to mention that each would have improved by practicing against each other.
Most importantly, all of these transfers (Boone, Morrison, Fingleton) show that there are some internal problems in our basketball program somewhere. Name another program that had 3 players transfer in the same year! The players obviously don't like Doherty or his ways.
What is this going to look like to our recruits? I am sure these highschool guys are gonna wanna come play with a program that is rebuilding, and players are transferring! These players seem to not like Doherty and/or his coaching methods.
I have tried to give Doherty an oppurtunity to prove himself, and I don't know if this is good. It looks to me like the players don't like him.

Well, this is about the last thing I wanted to see right now. IMO, Boone was one of the only bright spots from this past season, and I was really looking forward to seeing him perform next year. I think he was the one consistent outside shooter for us near the end of the year.
I agree that Boone's minutes at PG would be hurt by Felton, but I really thought he was still going to get to play a good deal this year. I had visions of him backing up Felton some and also playing alongside Felton at times.
Then again, the only player we would be losing from this past year's guard rotation would be Morrison -- while we would be adding two in Felton and McCants. So, that could certainly be construed as less playing time for Boone.
Oh well. I wish him well wherever he goes and will always pull for the guy.
As for the guys left behind, I'm still hopeful for next year. The one good thing about Boone's departure would be a boost to the overall team speed. Boone's major flaw was his lack of athleticism and quickness -- something that haunted him on both ends of the floor.
I am really intrigued about next year. For a change, it seems that we have the athletes to keep up with everyone else in the league. Coaching is really going to factor in a great deal. I think now we'll truly get to see what kind of coach Matt Doherty really is.

Coach Doh wanted his type of players on the team, and now they are all his (with the exception of Holmes and Johnson). Let's see what he can do....and hope it's good.

Malaysak, go ahead and jump back off the bandwagon. "failed to improve each year????" What kind of a statement is that. Give the guy a chance to coach the kids he brought in. I guess next week if we dont have a signiture from Reyshawn Terry, you will be bitching about that too. Give it a rest. I am willing to see what Doh can do.

Who's gonna handle the ball for Carolina next season if Felton goes out (injury, fouls, etc?) now that Boone and Morrison are gone? Gonna be a little short on the pine when it comes to ball handlers with experience? What's the outlook?

I think Scott needs to stick with shooting guard; that is his natural position and where he plays best. Hopefully he will improve his outside shot this summer and become a 12 pt guy.

Scott handled the point some this year. He can take care of it if necessary. I do not expect miracles next year. I do expect results 5 years down the road.

I'm as big a Phil Ford fan as anyone, but guess how much head coaching experience he has: that's right, 3 years less than Matt Doherty.
We've already torn down the old foundation and started building a new one. We endured the tearing down process this past year; next year will be a year of rebuilding. Why rip this one down and start over, without giving it a chance?

We're screwed anyway because there will be more transfers and Doh will piss off McCants and Felton just like the others and they won't play for him. Let's get Ford before we really hit rock bottom and can't get good recruits anymore. I know you people like to argue with me but I think all of you know that hiring Ford as head coach would be the right thing to do.

Do you know anyone named HeelRANAmoe?
