Reid Named ACC Defensive Back Of The Week

Safety had 21 tackles against Miami.

Chapel Hill, N.C. ----- University of North Carolina free safety Dexter Reid (Norfolk, Va.) has been named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week. Reid had 21 tackles, including 13 solos and eight assists in North Carolina's 31-27 loss to Miami (Ohio). The 6-0, 187-pound junior also broke up two passes. UNC held Miami QB Ben Roethlisberger to under 50% completions for the first time in his career and the 204 yards passing for Roethlisberger were his fewest in the last nine games.

This is the first career ACC player of the week honor for Reid

Let me jump in on this one -- Dex played a heckuva game.

I particularly remember one third-down pass completion where he allowed the receiver to catch the ball, and then took him down with an excellent tackle -- short of the first down marker, of course. It was an extremely heady play.

He could be our best player this year.
