Detroit is positioning themselves for the 2004 Stanley Cup. They are about to announce that goalie Dominik Hasek is coming out of retirement and returning to Detroit. They will then offer Sergei Federov whatever he wants to resign with them. Then the Red Wings will pursue Dallas free-agent Defenseman Derian Hatcher and do whatever they need to sign him.

The word is that Red Wing owner Mike Illitch has decided that he wants to win the Stanley Cup next season and he will allow anything General Manager Ken Holland wants in order to get the Cup!
