San Diego traded SP Oliver Perez a prospect and a player to be named later to Pittsburgh for superstar OF Brian Giles.

Giles is hitting .299 with 16 homers and 70 RBI.

Perez is 4-7 with a 5.38 ERA.

Thoughts, comments?

You may not remember, but I called this one awhile back. Giles is from San Diego. I think the Padres are getting a stud who is consistent every year. I remember when he toiled on the Indians bench and I kept telling my buddies to draft him in their fantasy baseball leagues after he got traded.

I think Marcus will end up there with him before it's all said and done.

I thought the same thing when I heard this trade went down.

I do remember you saying Brian Giles was going to San Diego. I think with them moving into their new ballpark next year, they wanted to bring in a star to put fans in the seats.
