Ochs picks Montana over Washington
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Associated Press
DENVER -- Former Colorado quarterback Craig Ochs will play for the University of Montana next season, Montana coach Joe Glenn confirmed Thursday.
"All I can say is he is verbally committed to the University of Montana and will enroll in classes starting in January," Glenn said.
Ochs chose Montana, a Division I-AA school where he will be the likely starter next season, over I-A Washington, where he would have had to beat out incumbent Cody Pickett.
Ochs had been given permission to talk with both schools after leaving Colorado.
Ochs, whose playing career was in doubt after suffering a series of concussions, surprised Colorado coach Gary Barnett two weeks ago by telling him he was giving up his scholarship and leaving for another school.
At Montana, Ochs is expected to battle junior college transfer Jeff Disney and Kendall Selle, a redshirt freshman, for Montana's starting job during spring drills in April. Disney is a redshirt this season.
Ochs seeks a medical redshirt for this year because the concussions kept him from playing all but two games for the Buffaloes. That would leave him with two years to play for the Grizzlies, whose top two quarterbacks are seniors.
