Here's an article from **** Vitale about the situation with our UNC Basketball Program.
<a href="http://espn.go.com/dickvitale/vcolumn020416Doherty-UNC.html" target="_blank">http://espn.go.com/dickvitale/vcolumn020416Doherty-UNC.html</a>
He really emphasizes Doherty's determined personality, incredible work ethic, and also Doherty's extreme passion for UNC basketball.
And Vitale says:
If Doherty's Tar Heels played the game with the same vitality and spirit he brings to his coaching, you would see a different situation in Chapel Hill.
I think this is very true, and hopefully with more of Doherty's recruits coming in this year, we will begin to see Doherty's system more in place than we have so far.
The key is having the guys that he recruited (and the other guys too, but more importantly the players he recruited) wanting to play for him and for UNC, and showing it in their performance on the court.

Looks like you're gonna have to refer to his as "Richard" Vitale to get his name to show up.

I respect Vitale and much of what he says is probably true. But I have a problem with the fact that Jason Capel is one of those saying that things must change at UNC. Capel started four years and was super intense and dedicated the whole time - he doesn't fit Vitale's profile at all. Capel is the son of a coach and the brother of another, and his words have weight if he says things at UNC need fixing.
I just don't think it's correct to focus on the players as the problem. I believe at least 50% of our problem is coaching.
