Well, it seems the MAC has almost as many coaching vacancies as the rest of the country. Some news has been filed, what about the others?

Akron-? Did they find a candidate and I missed it? Or do they have Kehres, and are waiting for the playoffs to finish!

EMU- Can't say I'm happy about this one. I wish them the best, but they have rolled the dice.

UCF- Again, I don't think I've missed an announcement here.

Ohio, CMU- Holding tight, eh? Not alot of turnover across the country, frankly this is the year to make a move. The rest of the MAC is clearly headed forward.

Country

Nebraska- Rash firing. No one stays on top forever. However, Solich obviously isn't that great. I'm guessing Samuel from N Mexico.

Arizona- Uh oh. Return of Desert Swarm? Koetter better get busy.

Duke- Any word? Could we see Miami (OH) looking soon?

Miss St- Croom is hesitant? Geez, how hard is it to win in that easy division? Take the job Sly!

Army- Ack. Tough gig.

Syracuse- Pasquelone has been on the hot-seat for 3+ years. They just lost to Rutgers. Why wait?

Ted Roof had his interview. So did a Redskins assistant. Former GT/Maryland/SD Chargers coach Bobby Ross interviewed today. From what I've heard, a decision should come sometime this week.

Ask your own team. You think you could beat Ole Miss or LSU? I SERIOUSLY doubt it lightweight.

I don't see LSU or any of those tiny Miss colleges stepping up to the plate. And I sure don't see junior Manning showing up, He might actually take a hit and get hurt.

But, If you can set up the game, I'm there. Otherwise, you're all talk. A blowhard, as it were.

Is the Bobby Ross thing for real or a smoke screen?

Bobby Ross is an awesome coach. A totally proven winner. The ACC would suddenly get very interesting with him involved.

Apparently, it's for real. It was in the Atlanta paper yesterday morning. That's still hard to believe though. Ross has to be in his mid-60s and when he retired from the Lions in '99, he said it was because he was burnt out.

Did anyone hear that clip on ESPN where they said some of the players had to be restrained from going after the AD at the press conference? They were totally behind Solich. For his sake, the AD better land a "name coach" and not some unproven assistant.

No, he said the Lions weren't trying, that they quit. I think there was too much dissention.

But, he is older and that's a concern. But, he's one heck of a coach.

That ought to keep them in mediocrity for a few more years.

if by mediocrity you mean third in a top notched conference, I'll take it. If by mediocrity you mean knocking off the #3 team in america, I'll take it. :D

There is no way Clemson finishes 3rd in conference next year.

Word today was that Solich was taking the Army job.

Hmm, interesting combination. Personally, my observation is that re-tread coaches don't do well, unless they come from the NFL.

(Consider: J. Majors, D. Ford, G. Faust, D. Curry, Mack Brown...)

I don't think Solich was a very good coach at UNL.

However, it is a big-time move by Army. Especially as they are going to get thumped again by Navy tomorrow.

ESPN is now reporting that Solich turned down their offer because (A) it was too soon to take another job, and (B) he wasn't comfortable recruiting at Army. Would've been a huge pick-up for the Cadets if he had accepted...
