I am particularly interested in the opinions of fans around the ACC on this one. From this past season, which Heels stood out to you... both good and bad? You can make these picks based on performance on the court or attitude.

Mine:

Favorite -- Jawad Williams. Many people were disappointed with his early-season play, and I think there was a lot of pressure on him from the beginning. Instead of pointing fingers and making excuses, he worked hard throughout the year and improved drastically. Many would say that all he did was finally live up to the expectations that most people had for him, but that is discounting the effort he gave over the season. Also, even though Carolina was having a down year, Jawad proved that he wasn't going to take crap from anyone, and he was going to defend Carolina no matter what. I like his attitude and work ethic, and I'm confident that he will improve every year he's at UNC (which we haven't seen from a player in a long time).

Adam Boone gets honorable mention for taking a lot of heat early in the season, but working hard and making himself a better player. I feel a lot better seeing the ball in Boone's hands, and I think he will be a good contributer next year as a role player, where I think he fits perfectly.

Least favorite: Neil Fingleton, only because he transferred. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> I've really got nothing against him (for that or any other reason) -- I just don't want to badmouth any of our players since they've been through enough this year. I'll let the rest of you do that.

Any input would be appreciated.

As you look at this team there were many who stood out. How could you not love the intensity of Jason, Chris and to a certain extent Boone. When I look at a team I look more at attitude. The one guy who's attitude was head and shoulders above everyone was:

Here is a kid who had very high hopes coming into Carolina. He never panned out. I am sure he could have gone elsewhere and played. He stuck it out. EVERY TIME-again I say-EVERY TIME one of the Heels came to the bench who was there waiting for him to give words of encouragement. That, my friends, is an example of a teammate! Good luck to O in the future.

You mind if a Terp plays in this one....?

Favorite Carolina player would be Boone or Holmes. I guess because they don't get crazy over-hyped praise from everyone. You can tell they work hard and they don't talk junk.

Least favorite is easily Jawad. That guy blatantly lied to the UM staff during his recruitment. He also had made some pretty silly comments this year.

wow this is tough!! if we are just going from this past season... wow!! that's really tough!! well I guess you have to start with Capel, even though he had a very tough year(injuries , personal troubles) he really did his best to lead this team...Lang, during the Kentucky game he got really sick, but he still came back and gave it his all!!... Orlando Melendez! Always loved that guy, great attitude... i really wish he would've picked it up on the defensive end b/c he is a great offensive player!!...Bersticker, well thanks for being ok off the bench for us!! Will Johnson, started off the season with everyone saying he didnt have a spot on the team, but he earned one, and when Jawad earned the right to more time you did not hear any complaints from him, now that is a great attitude! Holmes... I've always wondered why he has never gotten more PT, and I'm serious too!... Morrison, when he gets hot he is an unbelievable shooter, the problem is, when he isn't hot, not many of his shots go in, but he still takes them!... Boone, I never really liked Boone, but he proved to me this year that he can play, alilbit...still don't like him that much(...Felton...Felton...Felton!!!)....Scott, did a great job trying to play a position he isnt used to and once we get a real PG he will be able to move to his natural positon and excell there... Manuel... great season, seemed to disapear sometimes though...Bright future, after you spend a couple days in the weight room... and finally Jawad! wow what a playa!!! he too needs to hit the weights especially since he will play 4...can't say enough about him.... this has really been a special year, even though it's been down, it's been real guys!

OH ALL TIME HEELS!!
Dre Bly
Shammond Williams

just my opinion!!

And after seeing Jawad play, I'm not that pressed about losing him. But....the question was asked about the favorite and least favorite. None of the others have really slighted Maryland like that. So....he is the one I picked. I am completely over not having him, and.....since he is going to the NBA draft it turns out that its a mute point.

You must be talking about Wilcox because he is as good as gone for you all. Jawad said he is going to hit the weight room for 24 hours a day and he's going to eat a lot to get ready for next season in Chapel Hill. That's not directly what he said, but it's what he basically said.

Favorites: Johnson, Holmes. Hard working, smart, not extremely talented, but team players.

Least favorite: Forte. Oh, wait, he wasn't here this year. Oh, wait again, that's why he's the least favorite!
(please note that I'm not condemning him or complaining, just wish he had stayed)

Jawad's too intelligent to be going anywhere anytime soon. He knows he has a lot of work to do (and has said as much).

The fact that some of your Terps fans don't like him elevates him higher in my book. The more players we have to get under your skin, the better. I hope we can get a few kids that turned down Duke too (well, we always have Adam Boone, I guess).

Jawad said some silly things this year, yes. He also said some things which sounded silly, but may not look so in the future. The only problem I have with Jawad is his propensity to say whatever is on his mind to the media. If he starts backing it up, I could care less....
