which one is it?
-Franki valli and the four seasons, or
-the dells

please tell me neither. Because if you do the Franki valli version, and you ruin it (which you would, because nobody except for the 4 seasons can do it), you'll have to leave the state.
Its Frankie Vallie, and they do an excellent job. It's A Cappella so it sounds a little different.
sorry thomas. their group might be great, i wouldn't know. But nobody except for the 4 seasons can do this song, and you can't take away the music either.
I wish you would listen to it before judging it...

sorry nate, i can't do that. First thing, i hate acapella. Second, Oh what a night, is my 3rd favorite oldies song.

Well if you heard Jorge sing it... I think you would change your mind... And the last note of the song... Sean hitting a high C full "****** voiced".

you see jorge and the others could never compare to guys like valli and lymon (well nobody could compare to lymon). My standards are too high because i grew up partly on oldies. The platters, frankie lymon and the teenagers, dion and the belmonts, the drifters, the coasters, buddy holly, etc.

a) Have you ever heard Jorge sing?

b) We don't perform it in the traditional oldies style... For example, we have a vocal percussion break, a few different rhythms, and end it with a barbershop tag.

There is absolutely NO DOUBT in my mind that Anoop, Jorge and Matt Greenslade would all make the top 12 in American Idol. NO DOUBT. I'm also confident that no one else (except maybe Stephen Greenslade) would make it past the first round of AI.

Especially Anoop. Homeboy > Mark Cohn and Marvin Gaye (purely in vocals, not song writing)

a) no, but it doesn't matter
b) so you destroy the song?
c) american idol? top 12? the people who win can't sing at all. i can only imagine how bad the guy or girl who got 12th is. Clay Aiken is a horrible singer! Anoop and them might be good, i don't wanna diss them, but i've been listening to oldies for most of my life, and i hate to sing those songs taken apart.

a) Hell yes it does.
b) No, it's still the same melody and background, just a little different twist.
c) To go even further, I think Anoop could make the top 3. Matt G and Jorge don't have the versatility to go that far, but Anoop does...

BTW, Clay has a great voice... It's just most suited for a Disney musical or something like that. His voice is not suited for pop music as most people know it (and thank goodness for that).

Nate, why don't you and I go in together and buy flyingswoosh a CD? Or better yet-a ticket to the next show. Or both.

Flyingswoosh-for the record-I grew up on the music now considered oldies. I absolutely LOVE Marvin Gaye. I am always skeptical of hearing a new/different version of a classic. Anoop had me on my feet as "Let's Get It On" ended. That's after I collected myself from the "faint" caused by the perfection of their rendition. Remember-I'm the Mom, not one of the teeny boppers with a crush on the guys. But you know what, if you hate acapella then all my arguments are moot.

Great songs are the ones that when performed by anyone (at the same level of talent/emotion/presentation) sound just as good. Saying that only one person/group can perform a song is outrageous (for lack of a better term). If music was like that, then we all should be complaining about all the great classical pieces. They aren't still performed by the Berlin Orchestra of 1863, so they aren't as good! Also, comparing A Capella to the original is like apples to oranges.

As far as Aiken goes, like Nate said, he's not so much pop as he would be something such as Broadway or show songs. Personally I think he has better stage presence than Matt, if that means anything to you Nate, and a slight edge in the ability to project.

He's a capitalist. He wouldn't go to a show if he had to pay for it. This would be the only way to get him in, and you and Nate wouldn't have to split the 5 bucks to get a ticket.
