Democratic Underground dot com:

(You know, the "tolerant" ones).

Quote:I Wonder... if he knows he is dead? Or does he still think he is still with us, whereever that is...

Quote:When JOE MCCARTHY died in 1957 and was buried in Wisconsin

Legend has it my Uncle who lived near Appleton Wisconsin, got out his only thread bare suit, put on a white shirt and tie and went to the funeral mass for the man.

The reason he went, as he related to us years later, was to observe the coffin and to make sure "The Son Of a ***** was really Dead".

Our family never respected any of these thieves, hoodlums and cowards. Raygun for all his military blustering, never put his own *** on the line, ever.

The next 4 days are going to be highly disgusting.

This ******* was no friend to the "huddled masses, the tired, the down trodden, the homeless" or working men and women in general.

Quote:R.I.P

In hell

In reply to the previous:

Quote:On a slow-turning spit

Quote:The hysteric media outburst has already begun, his crimes against humanity notwithstanding. The blunt idiocy of that national self-deprecating spectacle makes me sick to my stomach.

Other than that, I'll proceed to celebrate the news in private.

For now.

About the news of his death:

Quote: I pray this is so...

Quote:
My loved ones would be alive today but for that lousy bastard

How many people died of HIV who would be alive today if not for Reagan?

How many jars of ashes did we have to throw on Reagan's White House?

How many acres of quilt did we have to sew?

How many protests, how many marches?

How many years and how many deaths just to get the bastard to say the ****ing word AIDS in public? Let alone do anything about it.

I'm glad he's dead. I hope he suffered at least half as much as my lover suffered. Though I doubt he did. His kind never do.

....and a show of a conspiracy theory that matches something you'll see from mentally challenged people:

Quote:Poppy???......I would pay to see him at Ronny's funneral......cause

I do have a premonition that Poppy may know a little
more about the shooting of Reagan than he lets on.

And the funny thing is now .....Reagan now knows who
really tried to snub him out.

Yes .....I would love to see Poppy sitting front and center!!!

Just a little Karma knocking at his door.

Quote:My sympathies to his family ....

I know feelings are mixed here in DU, but even as a staunch opponent of Reagan and his party, I think it is always proper to give the dead their due ...

Reagan, for all his faults, was a human being, and I shall not wallow in hatred within my OWN core for reasons of ego and self gratification ....

Fare Well, Dutch, and may you find understanding of WHY a liberal heart is a loving heart .

Sorry, I'm not seeing it.

Quote: LOL!!!........Yep, and let those Cristian Righties squirm now!!!

Hooked on phonics worked for me.

Quote:My sympathies to the country he wrecked

My eyes are dry

Yeah, was the cold war better??? Or did you want us to be Communist?

Ok, I'm done. This is a "show" of liberal "tolerance".

You can see ALL of it here:

Talk about a damn conspiracy theory:

October Surprise here we come.

Yeah, he PLANNED his death.

k......another conspiracy theory:

Quote:this story stinks

it makes more sense that White House sources are making this up, than imagining that the Reagans are keeping the White House posted on Ronnie's condition. Nancy despises the Bushies, probably suspects that Poppy tried to kill her husband.

It comes with the territory. I've glanced at that board once in a while (maybe every couple months or so), and it is pretty far to the left. It is a message board championing big government and redistribution of wealth. They even have a derragatory word - "Freepers" - for those who favor a free-market system. That is a scary bunch. Don't even think of suggesting an individualized thought over there.

Here's another conspiracy theory about Reagan:

Quote:(Reagan) started the crack epidemic (how many deaths do you think came of this? How many inner-city blacks had their lives RUINED forever, all hope of a future dashed to pieces?)

This post simply illustrates how personal responsibility is nonexistent in the world among the left fringe. Someone who started taking crack is free of blame. It's Reagan that forced the little rocks into their pipes, and made them smoke it at gunpoint.

The post is also an example of the rampant use of the race card on Democratic Underground. In their mindsets, everyone is subject to classification based on skin color, then assigned an "oppressor" and "oppressee" role. Marx would be proud. (After all, the first poster I see in RebelKev's link has a Karl Marx avatar)

I disagree.

There are some straight-ticket Repub voters on this board, but I can't see them showing this sort of glee. Castro and Kim Il-Jung, yes. But not a moderate Democrat.

Have you seen anyone on this board expressing glee at Reagan's demise? However, we know that some folks are. I guarantee that a certain element on this board would do exactly what the people on that board are doing if this was Clinton. Hell, he's been out of office almost 4 years and they still foam at the mouth and lie about him.

As for Reagan, my attitude when I heard about it was totally neutral. He was very old, and had been sick for a long time. He, and his family's suffering on earth is now over. As for his deeds on earth, that is now between him and his maker. I trust he will get what he deserves. Life goes on for the rest of us.

Call me silly but it's hard for me to think well of a man who thought ketchup was a vegetable and trees caused pollution.

From DU...

Quote:i don't care what killed him, alzhiemers or the black plague, i'm glad he's dead and i don't care how many times i'm scolded or chastised for it. the day he took office was the most depressing day of my life, and i swore, that on the day he died, i'd drink a toast of celebration and figuratively p*** on his grave and have said so to several gingrich sucking reagan worshipping d***heads.

f*** ronald reagan, and i hope in some small way my f*** you counteracts all the b***s*** we are going to be hammered with for a f****** month after the fall of this 'greeeeeaaaaaat human being'.

f*** you ronnie, here's to ya pal. see ya in hell

This isn't exactly an isolated post on there, either.

What I'm trying to say is... yes, we have some outspoken people on this board. And there are likely a few who would express some glee over a death by a prominant figure 'across the political aise', or freely admit they are no fans of their policies or them as a person. But overall, NCAAbbs is more moderate and down-to-earth than the Democratic Underground.

I agree with your second point. Given the disease he had, it's likely a "good" thing that this happened.

Anyone one who whould drink to someone dying is unreal. I cant stand any far left liberal, but I be the first one to send condolences if Hillary died. Come on how far does politics go in this country, to the point of cheering someones death?

Random quotes I've found in my lazy Sunday drive-bys on the 'net...

Quote:"Reagan was a statesman who, despite all disagreements that existed between our countries at the time, displayed foresight and determination to meet our proposals halfway and change our relations for the better, stop the nuclear race, start scrapping nuclear weapons, and arrange normal relations between our countries," Gorbachev said.

"I do not know how other statesmen would have acted at that moment, because the situation was too difficult. Reagan, whom many considered extremely rightist, dared to make these steps, and this is his most important deed," the former Soviet leader was quoted as saying.

Quote:"Hungary and Europe do not forget Ronald Reagan's help and his support for the former communist countries,'' Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, 41, told the Associated Press on Saturday.

Quote:"He is the one who allowed the breakup of the Soviet Union. May God rest his soul,'' said Bogdan Chireac, a foreign affairs analyst for the Romanian newspaper Adevarul.

Quote:"During his administration, U.S. citizens at all levels and of all walks of life - politicians, senators, journalists, academics - systematically and repeatedly were visiting Czechoslovakia and other communist countries, meeting the dissidents and the opposition,'' former Czech dissident Jiri Dienstbier told AP.

"Their open support was very important for our safety and for our position in society,'' he said.

Quote:"Mr. Reagan, along with Pope John Paul II, was one of the architects who dismantled communism in eastern Europe and stopped the expansion of the Soviet Union,'' said Ivo Samson, an analyst with the Slovak Foreign Policy Association.

Quote:"The fact that today Bulgaria is a member of NATO could happen only after the efforts of this great American president. His name will forever remain in history,'' said Petko Bocharov, a prominent Bulgarian journalist.

Quote:"For us, Reagan was important because we knew he was really anti-communist, emotionally anti-communist,'' said Zdenek Kosina, 65, a Czech computer specialist.

"For us, he was a symbol of the United States' genuine determination to bring communism to an end.''

Laurentiu Ivan, 35, a customs officer in the Romanian capital, struggled to describe Reagan's legacy and then said: "It is due to him that we are free.''

Well, Clinton was approximately 1/20th the President that Reagan was, so that would somehow seem appropriate if it had any basis in fact. Which it doesn't, like most every other thing you have ever posted here, with the exception of your claim to the title of lord flaming asshat.
