In response to one of Nate's posts:
I know the revisionist viewpoint is to say that Michael Jordan wasn't that great of a college player, but I would still contend he's one of the best. I wouldn't necessarily say he is the best, but I don't think ten better players could be named. Jordan was just such a great defender, which defined his greatness. Of course, he only got better in the NBA.

I agree completely... Best PG ever at UNC.
Phil Ford was better.

:stupid:
Other solid college PGs... Mateen Cleaves, Mark Price, Bobby Hurley, Hollis Price, Chris Corchiani, etc.
I think Steve Blake belongs on that list and Hollis Price wasnt a point guard.
Kahlid El Amin is another good one.
Steve Blake DEFINITELY belongs on that list.
I totally agree. Those were just some off the top my head and Blake didn't come to mind right away...

Like i said before, you seem to think that if a guy can score he's not a pg. Do you know why Cota didn't score? because he couldn't. he was terrible. I remember watching him thrive as a product of the people around him. The guys i named are all pg's, deal with it.

Marbury was great, but we only got to see him for one year so I wouldn't rank him up with the college greats. Now Kenny Anderson is another story...

Yes, I was just about to say Kenny Anderson. Marbury was also outstanding. It is a shame that we dont get to see more of what these guys can accomplish at the college level any more. Just imaginie if KG, TMac or Kobe had gone to college...

i can't believe i forgot about kenny. One of the best NY pg's ever. I also forgot about mark jackson and john stockton. the fact is that there were about 100 PG's better than Cota.

Jim Thorpe. But, this is off topic.
Bird carried his team to the NCAA championships. That's pretty impressive.
But, being born in Columbus, I'd always heard alot about Lucas.

Bias of course was top 10 of all time just happned to be playing in the ACC at the same time as a guy named MJ...
Randolph Childress was great
Crissy Lattener was a hell of a college player.
But without a doubt Kareem was the greatest of all time at the college level... Hell you mmight be able to argue that he was the greatest center ever in College or Pro... If you combine the 2 he would be without a doubt.
Plenty of guys were good in college and stunk it up in the NBA...
I can't think of anyone who had the college and Pro career Kareem had...
