Cable News Network (CNN) has announced that corporate sponsors are being featured during some parts of the Operation Iraqi Freedom coverage. During the first "Shock and Awe" campaign on Bagdad, Thursday, March 20, 2003 the GE logo appeared inconspicuously in the lower right corner of the screen. When questioned, CNN spokesman, Allen Simpson said, "In order to offset the coverage of this war, which all networks found out during the first Gulf War to be extremely expensive, we have taken to running a limited number of corporate logo advertising during the war coverage."

Hey, its their channel. Let them advertise as they want. But know that if you do something stupid there could be some backlash.

Nobody's talking about it because it's a foregone conclusion! Corporate America is calling the shots!
I'm surprised we aren't making a reality show about soldiers attacking civilians and our campaign of terror.

Watch out Joe, the aliens are coming back to take you home. :space:
I suppose you would be in favor of government sponsored television, as opposed to the current system that we have now. The fact is...It costs money to operate a TV station...So you need sponsors. If you are going to have extended coverage, with possibly less commercial time, the sponsors are going to get mad about their money being taken and no adds to show for it. So they compromised and ran the adds and the coverage at the same time.
And let's face it...CNN's add time is probably not worth very much, so they may need to run adds constantly to pay the bills!

Joe does seem a bit hypocritical, doesn't he? Oh well, that's Joe. The Pro-Government anarchist.
