How about the Detroit Tigers!

Game 1
Detroit 7
Toronto 0

Game 2
Detroit 7
Toronto 3

Game 3
Detroit 6
Toronto 3

The Tigers are 3-0! They are scoring runs and their pitching is holding up very nicely. The question is this - Is Detroit improved that much or is Toronto that bad?

Toronto was actually supposed to be decent this year (80-85 wins). I've been saying for a while that the Tigers would surprise some folks this year. Now look at them with a 3-0 record. Break 'em up!

BTW, they didn't win their 3rd game last year until the 22nd game of the season.

I'm going to go with Tampa Bay, I think they'll be much better than in past years.

I'm pulling for the Tigers to take it to the house in the AL Central this year. It could happen...

I like the Mets as the surprise team this year.

no way, the mets have an awful bullpen. They also have too many "if's". Piazza, floyd, reyes, leiter, trachsel and the bullpen.

If the Cards do anything this year (with their pitching staff), it would surprise a lot of people--me included!

I thought you said the Mets will be much better this year? Have you given up on them already?

no. the mets will be improved, but to call them a surprise, is foolish. I also got the feeling that cbf thought the mets would finish high in the east. i guess i understood him wrong.

The NL East is by far the deepest in baseball. Four teams from that division can win it, and yes, including the Mets. I picked the to finish fourth though, I still think they are a year away.

Tigers are now 5-1 and have a 2 game lead in the AL Central. With playing in such a crappy division they have the best chance to be the surprise of 2004. An average team could run away with that division.

No doubt. I really think the Royals are mediocre.
