I agree MR. Disturbing and downright sick. A lot of this is born out of 'mob mentality' (think post-football game riots multiplied by 10), in that many of these soldiers will look back at this years from now and say, "what was I thinking?". This is also the result of military brawn being ill-equipped to handle the task of 'nation building'.

The US needs to get out of there, ASAP.

I've seen other photos besides these as well. I don't know if I should be additionally surprised at this trivial observation or not... but it was interesting to note that a number of the US soldiers in these photos were female. Not the automatic image I would've had in my mind.

(A part of me admits that I wouldn't mind seeing Osama placed in the position in the top-left photo).

The worst part is most of those guys were probally dragged out of their house and forced to fight for Sadamm. Second the General in charge of that prison should be the next in line as soon as the trial os Sadamm is over. Let the Iraqis take care of him too.

The reason for invading Iraq went from WMD to the atrocities committed by Saddam against his own people. Then we walked in with WMD and treated some of the Iraqi people inhumanely. At this moment, does anyone feel any better than the man we removed from power?

As bad as it may sound I would have to say yes.

I cannot imagine anything more harmful to "winning the hearts and minds." These photos are more effective as anti-American storylines than anything al-jazeera could ever broadcast or print. It's an absolute disgrace.

Not to excuse the conduct of our soldiers for having done this, but one might keep in mind the fact that we didn't kill and torch those people, as has been done to our people. The officer commanding should be cashiered, the soldiers who did this should be court-martialed. This kind of crap is just what we don't need right now.

Just the same, when one considers what was done in WWII, this is chicken feed. My father watched a marine take up a rifle and shoot a Japanese prisoner during the battle of Tawara as he was being taken to the ships. The marines were mainly PO'd about the fact that the fellow he shot was one of the very few prisoners they were able to get. But the things the Japanese did to our guys.... So, brutality begets brutality. C'est la guerre.

Very easily yes. Why? Because the entire US population (with the exception of a few sick beings) condemns these actions, and this is by no way a government run or authorized act. Saddam hardly punished those who committed similar acts.

As if going to war in Iraq on false pretenses wasn't bad enough, these incidents are easily the most damaging incidents to our international credibility in YEARS. We are supposedly the nation of human and civil rights - like it or not and right or wrong, this shows us to be a farce.

Let's not forget, boys and girls, that the bad boogeyman did all of this under the U.S.'s watchful eye (and even with tacit approval).
