I think even the idea suggests that the Dems are a one-person party.

I don't really see what was all that great about Clinton. Of course there are the moral questions, but those are neither here nor there. I don't see what was so great about his policies.

Politcally, he was astute in that he stole conservatives' agenda issues and fancied these as his own. Other than that, he was a typical shell-candidate that the parties parade around. He, like any other major party candidate, simply finds out what's most talked about, spins that into an issue, and relies on a split vote to get into office.

There's more to Clinton and both of the Bush's handlers than there are to the men themselves.

It was said in jest to fire up the conservatives, but the single geatest factor I attribute to Clinton was financing a large portion of the debt at the time on short term T-bills. It was a gamble that really paid off. I perfer his tax and spend policies over these borrow and spend more Republicans anyday. I also perfer his environmental policies over the current arsenic and toxin crowd.
