It doesn't really matter who has been better, since Vlad and Casey are in separate leagues.

I think neither will win it at the end of the year. It will be Pujols and Manny.

Quote:...Player....................AB    R H HR RBI BB SB BA OBP SLG

Casey, Sean 1B CIN 206 42 79 10 42 15 1 .383 .427 .631

Pujols, Albert 1B STL 201 51 63 17 40 37 2 .313 .420 .652

Rolen, Scott 3B STL 192 33 68 13 57 18 1 .354 .413 .630
I think you could make the case for any of the three if you lean on BA and OBP and Hits, it's Casey. If you lean on power, Pujols has the HR's and SLG %, and Rolen has the RBI's.
If the season were to end today, it would be hard to argue with .383 and comparable power.
Ans: Casey.

When you say somebody is the best hitter, that means they have the highest BA. So that is incorrect.

no that is definitely not true, you have to take into consideration when the hits come and what kind of hits they are, (HR as opposed to singles)

Best hitter=best BA.

use another term for what you are talking about, like best offensive player in baseball, or best overall hitter. But the best plain hitter is simply who has the highest BA. Who gets the most hits when they come to the plate, no matter what kind or when they come.

This is just a situation of using the wrong term, thats all.

That includes walks, errors, and being hit by pitches. Not just hitting.

why can't bonds be considered the MVP. His numbers are every bit as good as casey's and pujols'.

BA: .360
Runs: 41
HR: 15
RBI: 31
BB: 74 (and only 10 strikeouts!)
OBP: .618
Slugging %: .829
OPS: obviously, 1.447

I think a lot of people are tired of Bonds because he wins it every year.
